Thousands of dads are left in shock as DIY paternity tests soar. Up to 30,000 tests are being performed every year, says Alphabiolabs. In the UK about 750,000 babies are born every year. Feminists want the test to be illegal without the written consent of the mother.

I wish we could have only females and only males groups, but feminists said that was all kind of -ist and -phobe, so now eat your own medicine.

Totally agree. Go down the wiki rabbit hole about Harvard final clubs and gender discrimination and your blood will boil. They’re traditionally men only. So there’s a women only club, catch is, they tried to not admit a trans man>woman so they flipped out and now all final cubs apparently are or have to become coed, which is lame.

[–]paul9854 49 points50 points51 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

now all final cubs apparently are or have to become coed

Good news: Harvard recently back-tracked on that, in the face of a lawsuit from a group of fraternities.

Source: https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/06/29/metro/harvard-will-drop-policy-targeting-all-male-final-clubs/

[–]dtyler86 62 points63 points64 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Gotta love this line “Harvard adopted the ban in 2016 in an effort to shut down the university’s eight, highly secretive, all-male final clubs. But the university’s decision was quickly attacked by women’s organizations that were also affected.”

They’re all for shutting down men’s clubs, ya know, that date back to college being almost, if not entirely male occupied, but as soon as the all female groups get targeted too, it’s hell to pay

[–]dtyler86 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh good! I hadnt read on it recently so I wasnt sure where the policies currently stood. That’s good news

[–]CryptocurrencyMonkey 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

How do they sue for the right to discriminate based on sex?

[–]paul9854 13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How do they sue for the right to discriminate based on sex?

Fraternities are private entities, so I assume the "freedom of association" doctrine applies.

[–]Schadrach 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The argument from the other direction is that that same freedom applies to the university as well, and they can refuse to recognize or associate with organizations that do discriminate based on sex.

The problem to certain groups is that they can't do that based on which sex is discriminated against, which means denying all make orgs also means denying all female orgs or getting a fat title IX class action suit against them where the class is something like"all male students during the entire time period the policy is in effect".

So they either deny all sex based orgs and those groups reform as private groups unaffiliated with the school or it's resources or not and nothing changes.

[–]cld8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They were private organizations with no university affiliation, so the university couldn't directly shut them down. Rather, the university threatened to penalize any student who was found to be a member.

I don't know what the basis of the lawsuit was, but probably some sort of equal protection for students.

[+]ThrowAway47384729923[🍰] -11 points-10 points-9 points 5 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Separate but equal doesn’t work.

[–]whyserenity 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It absolutely does if the people are allowed to do as they choose. By default people always choose to segregate.

[–]cld8 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It doesn't work for government or business services, but I see nothing wrong with it for private organizations.

[–]ManWomanMythonline 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You make sense. The main issue, I would say, is the prevalence of misandry and female-focus.

[–][deleted] 136 points137 points138 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Those types of feminists are the same type of siblings who invade your room to break your things then blame you for not letting them in for the first place

[–]hambonejamboree_ 36 points37 points38 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I take it you don’t get on with your sister.

[–][deleted] 43 points44 points45 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don’t have a sibling at least one I know of

[+]angelgu323 -8 points-7 points-6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Then why are you making such a weird anecdote story? Like do people really have siblings like this outside of TV Shows and Foster Homes lol. (Obviously SOME people do)

[–]OfficialCandleJack 8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My younger sister was like that when we were kids. She would break my things or take them without asking then play the youngest child card when I would get mad. Everyone would say "Oh she's just trying to get your attention" but that wasn't true. She later admitted that she did it to mess with me and knew I couldn't do much about it.

Like the return of the Boy Scouts? which is now basically tom-boy-scouts?

Or organizations like Big Brothers ? (which is now mostly supportive of only big sisters)

[–]threaddew 19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it’s better that we don’t have exclusive groups - but it definitely has to be equal across the board.

[–]Pipezilla 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agree.... have a “Code Group” and within that group a “Men” and “Women” code group...

[–]kellykebab 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah, just reverse this nonsense and let people form whatever groups they want. This petty tit-for-tat isn't going to lead to anything good. Allow people to form social bonds naturally and spontaneously.

[–]hehimCA 90 points91 points92 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Great work - some momentum on Title IX. Thanks for posting.

[–]AmmaronsRepository 85 points86 points87 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Whether a female wants to code or not should be her decision. Women who hate feminine women are making decisions for them.

Someone once told me that they wish the 18 yr old making decisions for their 40 yr old self had been more circumspect. I often wonder if the brainwashed individual ever comes to their senses when consequences pay them a visit.

[–]GalileosTele 138 points139 points140 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The vast majority of the campus advocacy groups for women are not actually about helping women. They are there for 2 reasons: Making sure all departments are immersed in gender studies dogma so that at least all female students come out as good feminists. And boosting the career, prestige, and funding of the faculty members leading the group.

How college girls are coerced and bullied into joining the feminist sisterhood

[–]NoGardE 48 points49 points50 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is very true. Several game industry businesses I've worked with have recruited through GWC. That means that GWC staff sponsors get to be gatekeepers into the industry. Ahhhh, the power.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why do you think colleges are so tolerant of this behavior? (to brainwash kids into feminists). People will go to university regardless if gender studies are available.

[–]kagayaki 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's only brainwashing when the person making the accusation doesn't agree with the end result. It's kind of similar to the application of words like propaganda and conspiracy theory.

[–]cld8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Colleges have no reason to stop it. It doesn't affect anything from their perspective.

[–]Slade_Riprock 36 points37 points38 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

At my former place of business there was a woman centric organization related to IT. They made a big deal about. And no one came. A handful of women only and then even they stopped coming. They couldn't figure out why no one was attending, cause girl power you know, so oppressed. At an org in which the president and the majority of senior leaders are women. And the entire staff is mostly women... Yeah patriarchy.

So anywho they do a survey and basically in their minds they thought they were open and Inclusive. The women who responded basically said it was boring and too focused on the woman part. Men basically said they didn't think they were invited.

So they started making it clear it was open to anybody. Suddenly attendance rose....from men who wanted to understand the women's point of view and do their part to help.

Same thing happened with the diversity group. No minorities came and they found out that, go figure, minorities didn't want to sit around and preach to themselves. So they made it open to everyone and the white staff flooded their events. And those white staff wanted to understand what minorities in IT face and how they could be better.

Point is when you truly make these Specific organizations open to all and TRULY about helping others undwrstand you point of view. As opposed to just being bitch fests or bag on everyone not like you they actually serve a valuable purpose.

[–]heyyy-kiddo 14 points15 points16 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Everything you just said sounds like a badly planned social experiment xD

[–]trash62 25 points26 points27 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I wonder if we will see a new open source initiative, one where people who don't want to put up with this kind of bullshit.

As an ex-coder myself, I can say the industry pretty much bent over backwards to get more female coders. The reality is, there are very few women who code because that's what they're into. It's just not a field that interests women, what's so horribly wrong with that?!?

It is far more probable when you see a female programmer, that she is doing it because she hates men and is seeking validation from the other women.

Regardless of the law, I wouldn't want anything to do with "GWC" either as a member, or as an employer.

[–]heyyy-kiddo 11 points12 points13 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Also don't use Github bro...they went woke.... Pycom too...

[–]trash62 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The Linux Software Foundation .... gives money to diversity programs, not coders who contribute great software.

The Free Software Foundation ousted their core founding member for being a "rape apologist" when he was merely saying we didn't actually have all the facts.

The GNOME project, Python, Ruby, all of them, really have been consumed by this hate group. Google women in open source and you'll find articles praising women for coding, but the same search for men will show you page about how males dominate the open source world. No mention of their contribution is ever allowed, instead we get to read about white male privilige.

We need a new open source movement. One that is free of hate groups.

[–]heyyy-kiddo 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fortunately they can't destroy something immaterial....men will always band toghether to create the things we dream off...be it a shed, garage,or the net.

Linux Software Foundation will die out slowly while others will sprout.

Only danger is for them to break this 'alliance',our trust in other men and our joy for creation. It's not fun to work only to see your work/art tarnished....which feminists have done to the open source movement.... Since those things should be more decentralized I thought they'd just ditch the troublemakers...I hope the future developers ,since they will be 99.9% be all men just reject to work with any feminist and stop buying into the bullshit.

We run the industry not SJW's with 0 skills and drive to do something.

[+]SafetiesAreExciting -12 points-11 points-10 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Should a workplace be free of irrational hate of women? Look at the anti-social, gross responses to this post. Lol, imagine being threatened and enraged by GWC.

[–]heyyy-kiddo 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Where do you see irrational hate? I just want a workplace free of 'wannabe profesionals'. It's unfair for those that worked hard for that degree, that gave their best at the interviews.

I don't hate women and it's not like I don't want them in my workplace, but it's not right for girls that woke up overnight with a revelation for $ to show up and screw things over and take the seat of someone that worked hard at that.

Also GWC is a political group driving the movement and having a huge decision in a company's affairs. So yes,GWC can burn for all I care as they have no place there. Only thing should matter are skills.

As an example look at CD Project. No GWC like crap and could deliver a great experience to their fans despite minorities boycotts and mud trashing they tried.

[+]SafetiesAreExciting -6 points-5 points-4 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

HA! Even the briefest glance through your post history makes my point. Your post and comment history is full of absolutely irrational, impotent hate directed at women. Where do you work and maintain such an awesome attitude?

I’d urge anyone else who considers themselves a male rights advocate to look through the post history of heyyy-kiddo as well to understand why society may not take the movement seriously.

[–]heyyy-kiddo 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What part of my post history do you consider it "so bad"? Just cite those comments back.

I just have my views on things. I may have been too harsh or acid some times ,but I don't think I stepped any major lines.

Also I speak for myself here. I simply can't speak for all the male activists. In the first place it is a heterogenous movement,it simply has much more nuances from MRA to MGTOW philosophy and many others. Some are more aggressive while others less involved. I present my opinions on those reddit's and try to understand the other's Redditors posts as well.

However I'll stand my ground on my beliefs. I don't think MRA and feminist ideas as they are currently presented can coexist. In my eyes feminism is about anything else ,but equal rights. I think this is what upset you in my posts generally. This or the other subreddits I browse.

In the first place this account has a lot of purposes. Tumblr replacer for different kinks, tehnical portal and MensRights + other men's groups. I'm also interested in some women's subreddits to better understand them and see what they enjoy. Christmas present ideas don't come on their own.

[–]SafetiesAreExciting -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are either here in bad faith, or you lack self awareness so much that I would almost feel bad for you if I didn’t know you were going around, making the world a worse place to live in. Seriously, think about it. Why would anyone who isn’t a bitter, woman hating creep want to be around you? You make constant sexual jokes about women, you state in a variety of different ways that you don’t think they deserve jobs in tech, you always talk like you know “the value of a woman”. For the love of god reflect on what sort of human you want to be, because at its current trajectory, I promise you, your not being discriminated against because your a man, you’re having a hard time because you are a bitter loser, who treats women like objects while claiming to know everything about them and their supposed shortcomings.

Should a workplace be free of irrational hate of men?

It's a private college, they can make up any rules they want, right?

[–]boxsterguy 30 points31 points32 points 5 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Title IX applies to any school that receives federal funds. And since most student loans are federal, if a private school accepts federal student loans it is now bound by Title IX.

[–]connecteduser 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

And since most student loans are federal, if a private school accepts federal student loans it is now bound by Title IX.

Honestly, this way of thinking seems a bit fucked up to me. A loan is a private guarantee between the holder and the client. It should no longer be viewed as federal money once it passes from the holder to the student. If the student is the one responsible for paying off the loan than it is not federal funds. It is the students funds.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

A loan is a private guarantee between the holder and the client

Except federal student loans are guaranteed by the federal government

[–]connecteduser 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

To whom? When I take out a traditional privite loan for say a vehicle, all of the money is paid immediately to the dealership. It is a complete payment guaranteed by me, the borrower.

/excuse my ignorance. I am not trying to imply that you are wrong.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

For federal student loans, the government guarantees payment to the creditor

[–]connecteduser -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

To the creditor and not the recipient. In that case the college the recipient and should be treated as any other loan.

Example. If I borrowed money from my grand father made a guarantee to my fa her that I would pay off the loan to pay for a car that dealership has no obligation to my grandfather to care what he thinks. My personal credit is on the line.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

There are four entities involved here:

College (recipient) You (debtor) Bank (creditor) Federal government (guarantor)

You take a loan from the bank that gets paid to the college. The federal government promises to pay your loan to the bank, if you default on your loan.

This is NOT a regular loan between three entities.

Think of the federal government as your cosigner...

[–]connecteduser 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Fair enough. Thank you for taking the time to chat about this.

I had a long drive today so I spent some more time thinking about it. I thought about the possible scenario described above.

It still seems fucked up that as far as credit scores are concerned, the student would be the gurantor. They would have a ruined credit score as a result of a default. And if the government, a trillions dollar money printing power house, is seen as the guarantee of the debt then the interest rates should be much lower than they are because of the almost zero risk the the creditor.

It all seems a bit fucked up.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Without the government guaranteeing the loan, no lender would pay out that much money to an 19 year old with no collateral

[–]cld8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And even if you don't count student loans, all schools accept federal funds for research and other activities.

[–]laptopdragon 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

afaik they still have to abide by federal laws which include anti-* laws.

[–]Astro4545 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not in this case. The quote the clubs constitution has is almost exactly the same as the one my college needs to have.

[–]heyyy-kiddo 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I really don't see anything positive with only female coders group.

First hand female programmers are rare, most girls from my uni went to my specialization cause $. Hell even some guys too.

Very few girls actually chose it because it seemed interesting. Most learn by heart and treat it like a hassle. They learn because they have too,not because they want to understand or like the subjects.

Also most girls are shit at it let's face it.....maths physics programming.... You need to just look the numbers that failed the coding exam. That thing was online and automatically graded. Your program worked and passed the random tests....ok...you pass no...you fail.

So I don't like programs that promote mediocrity into entering a specialized field and occupying positions of people that worked their ass off and actually are driven...

Give me a good women developer in my /our team and I'm totally ok with it,hell I really don't mind a nice lady mentor that can explain things properly and take her time to make sure I understood(had a women mentor like this),but don't throw someone into a position cause 'equality'.

Show me her work, her wits ,her drive... Most EE engineering guys have electronics as a hobby,I too regard this as a hobby. My job is literally my hobby...it's hurtful to see your passion beeing trempled on ...

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeh same, CS is my hobby and my job as well, and i really hate people who only do it for money, bringing down the overall stature of a field.

[–]Langland88 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I guess this is what happens when they create or amend these rules to effective ban male-only clubs and groups. Now it's coming back and biting them in the ass. But in some ways, this is their own fault. I bet they're crying foul on this but this is what happens. If all the traditionally male-only clubs have to open their doors to the women, the traditionally female-only clubs must open their doors to men. It's only fair.

[–]accidental_me 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Out of curiosity, was this something the Trump administration achieved? Is there a big risk that a democratic president will encourage univerities to start discriminating against men again more blatantly?

[–]cld8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if there is, I will take some discrimination in universities over 4 more years of Trump.

But I get why women have a group like that. Women can't even walk around without being ogled at. I think we need equality education in our societies. That way you could have mixed groups of any kind without people feeling awkward.

"Equality education" is what we've had for the past thirty years. Now we have a generation of anti-social men who hate themselves, a generation of women who think emotionally and financially ruining men is fun, and a generation of mothers who see no issue in leaving the family and preventing any contact between the child and their father.

And, to your example, women and men alike are 'ogled' at. But you just proved the point of having this whole sub by only mentioning that it's the women who suffer from it.

I do not live in USA so I don't know what you are talking about by having equality education for thirty years. I have followed the discussion somewhat from the skeptic side on the internet and haven't heard of this once. What exactly is this education and how do you think it is turning men anti-social? How do you think it is turning women into men-abusers?

I see the problem in divorces, I have heard of the stories. I agree that it is a problem.

In terms of ogling, women look at men too, but it is mostly not ogling. I have had women all me handsome unprompted so I think I probably don't look so bad. I have been ogled at once in my life, in 22 years, for 20 seconds. Compare to this, my average looking older sisters, In the nice neighborhood. It happens every week or so to them. They don't wear revealing clothes too, nothing that goes up the knees or shows breast skin. Also, I have to set straight a young kid who keeps ogling at my sister.

I can't believe that what we experience is even close to women. I would need to see data to change my mind.

Someone getting none would choose to get more than needed, someone getting too much would choose to get less than needed

Female attention is not the same as male attention because men are more aggresive.

Aggresive male sexual attention is a bad thing when you just want to go about your day.

Most women don't consider the attention they get as "Just a tad bit more than needed" I recommend you to talk to women about this. Hell, just ask decently and honestly on r/askwomen or something.

And there’s a whole reddit for men who clearly have never been able to get affection from women, and somehow think that’s the woman’s fault. Looking through the comments in this thread alone make it clear that things like GWC is a much needed thing, since so many computer scientists are spiteful, socially illiterate, pitiable zoo creatures who spend their time shrieking with small peen energy about women in STEM. God, what a scene you people are.

Enjoy creature comforts thanks to anti social men, proceed to shit on them on the devices/platform/internet they developed.

Come on, I'm a woman and even I can see the hypocrisy.

Except for the part where literally everything you said isn’t based in science or reality, and is instead projected from your toxic, immature, maladapted worldview. Have you considered that?

You seem like an insufferable ass.

How so?

If you have to ask...confirmed. Insufferable asshole. Take my downvote.

It doesn't work that way. I invite you to stop talking like highschool dumbasses and make a point.

I think this is definitely wrong, but I also think that a male only coding group would be met with a ton of hate.

Read this wrong first time and skipped the part where it says it’s a girls only group

My opinion is that gender-based groups are fine so long as there is equal access to resources. If there's a group that has a lot of notoriety and resources compared to others, excluding based on gender discriminates against them by providing an unfair advantage to the other gender. However, if the primary focus is comfort or safety and the group doesn't enjoy privileges being denied to other groups, it's fine to have exclusive groups.
