It's worse than that, it's deliberate tone deafness on part of feminists who aren't asking the question of why 'men don't express their emotions'. They're not interested in discussing any of the issues you talk about and instead insist on belittling us all which is why I tell feminists to go fuck themselves.

I find the ones who claim they're moderates when they're blatantly not are the worse because they're trying to pass themselves off as kindly feminists looking to help men when they're in reality a bunch of manipulative sociopaths telling men what their problems are and targeting vulnerable people.

Another in the long list of reasons why I've come to despise reddit.

The entire premise of "it's okay to cry" is often used, in practice, as a way to dismiss men's problem. It's trying to paint these issues as something that men could just fix by showing their emotions(which never fixes the problem), rather than as systematic problems that should be addressed first and foremost. It's often used to encourage men to cry, without addressing the problem of women diminishing men for crying anyway. It's like encouraging men to incriminate themselves, so to speak, to make it easier for them to be judged and dismissed.

No amount of crying will change any sex based discrimination I face(d) in my country. (Switzerland, not getting a scholarship because I am male, mandatory military service and higher retirement age for men)

At best this would help me to better deal with the symptoms but it won't help eliminate the cause at all.

In fact I think feminists focus on that (showing emotions) so that they don't have to give up / share any privilege.

Feminism only ever removed the privileges men once had while keeping and even adding to privileges women have.

Cry if you want to, but only in private or with a trusted friend. Sometimes, your expression of emotion/ vulnerability can be seen as a sign of weakness. And the same people who encourage you to cry can judge you for it.

From what I can tell, this could also be interpreted as a misunderstanding of male anatomy - trans people seem to experience greater crying on oestrogen, and less crying on testosterone.

It's also kind of rude to ignore why this is stigmatized in the 1st place.

Well if you looked at root causes of for example suicide, it would get linked to:

Divorce and family court - loss of kids, house, income, pension.... countries like Candana have dreadul family court systems

Homelessness - can be linked to above

Milatry service

Lack of services for men, or wider societal concern

Feminists of course don't want you to look at all those things, especially ones that lead to more money and resources being given to mens issues... so they blame the root cause on men not being able to cry or show emotions. This makes no sense... while yes that is a thing, and it is good to address, men not crying etc has almost no role in high male suiide rates for example. Women attempt suicide at 4x the rate (there is an issue of suicidal intent to consider here and double counting) and self harm and have many other mental health issues at far higher rates than men, so it has nothing to do with this talk about your feelings and cry (and crying wont help most men anyway, thats not how men in general process problems).... to actually address these issues about suicide etc, you'd need to look at divorce and family courts, homelessness, which of course feminists dont want

When one says that it is okay to cry, one does not necessarily say that is the only thing you should do. This is a strawman.
