I don't think most men marry for looks, not smart and mature ones anyway.
Men marry women they can trust and respect, and with whom they want to start a family.
If men married for looks a lot of women that are single but crazy would be married.

However just because you have a degrea doesn't mean you got a job

She have to be loved and trusted, it's not one thing you got and get married

Women do look for man status, since by nature he's the provider so that can't be overlooked

Most men don't marry for looks though. When they choose a wife, they prefer a woman who is mentally stable, loyal and non-combatitive. AKA, being submissive is more important for a man when it comes to having a wife rather than looks. Of course, a man would prefer a woman who is not overweight, but that doesn't require a lot of effort if you don't stuff your face with food. Being rich however requires grinding beyond imagination, effort, blood and sweat and if women go only rich men even though they might not deserve them, then yeah, they will get criticised.

Historically marriages were always financial in some way or another. A poor man wouldn't marry a women with a weak work ethic just because she was pretty unless he had no other options because of his own low status. Hopefully there was mutual attraction and respect that could grow into love but it wasn't guaranteed. Depending on whose research you read the marriage for love concept wasn't even really a thing until around the 1700's. Mainly after the French and American revolutions when the enlightenment period was really getting into full swing and the concept of personal happiness was promoted as actually being important to the human experience.

Yes, looks are important.

Kindness, empathy, compassion, a nurturing mindset, and a will to persevere are also EQUALLY important, and that is something I don’t think a lot of women understand well.

A man will date a beautiful woman, but she must be more than beautiful to gain his life's devotion.

The 'gold digger' argument is more relevant now due to the '6 figure/life of leisure' demand that has become popular in social media. Most men are not rich, or wealthy by any stretch, and the current trend is to value a man purely on his financial status.

This is a conflation of ideas - its an old tactic and really a poor one. thought we moved pass 2008. . . but okay. Lets split the argument and look at the individual issues mashed in this feminist question.

criticizing someone ( male or female) for being a gold digger. It is fair to point out the only reason someone is around is that they are after your pocket book. Men used to tolerate this, but men are now changing this approach. We are setting boundaries as the opposite sex has, We are saying its okay to have expectations, as the opposite sex has. In truth we have listened to the demands of women, and now we are making our own. Gold digging is out, and men are getting better at spotting it.
The negative assumption that men only marry for looks. Then men would overlook the body count, lack of ethics, only look at only fans etc., etc., However there is so much traction gaining in the MGTOW community, The red pill community, Men's Rights among other. So no men do not marry for just looks - there has to be soul, a willingness to communicate etc., men are getting better at spotting the red flags, and are willing to look into them more.

There has been a cry for fair and equal treatment - now men have answered. Why should we place ourselves out there? We are not getting fair and equal treatment so why should we get married. Women instigate divorce over 80% of the time, and if they are in a professional field with a degree its 90%. While the division of estate is equal in most, most instances. Men are still losing on child custody and child visitation. So we know the game is rigged against us. If a Judge offers and extra 1/2 day to women that is an extra week a year.

With this in mind men are isolating their losses. Very smartly - why divide assets when I put over 90% of the money into the household. I will just keep it. I will keep my car, my house, and my bank account, and my retirement. Women wanted equality/ equity great they can provide their own car, their own house, and their own retirement. If they do so much the better. congrats you got your wish - you are now equal.

No I do not agree with the Myth you are trying to perpetrate here. Women are not the victim, in fact they cause the problem of divorce. Its been celebrated by feminists as liberating and it destroys the patriarchy. In fact that's the farthest from the truth. Women are now waking up in their 40's and realize the perfect utopia they were sold. . . was a lie. They are waking up to effect that divorce changes the earning potential for men. So I would think that the further this goes along - the more polar people will become.

I would hope it settles down, but I really doubt it - so until that day I will keep my guard up.

I think it's pretty natural and normal to look for a guy that can help feed, clothe, and house potential children.

Most of the things guys notice the most about a woman's physical appearance correlate surprisingly high with her fertility. So that's perfectly normal too.

Where it goes wrong, is when that's the only thing being considered. Many guys have find themselves in a dead bedroom only to realize she never was really that sexually attracted to him. Or a woman realizes the guy was peacocking (displaying much more wealth/status than he really has).

Alright, I'm a dude who's been around A LOT with woman, and other dudes, and I'd just like to say:

I ain't never met a man who married a woman for her looks, literally no one I know personally has ever even dated someone else purely for their looks. Nor have I ever asked a guy or a girl out because I thought they were particularly attractive, nor has anyone asked me out for that reason.

Also, marriage is NOT just an "economic agreement". Marriage to me, everyone I know, is a truly special and important part of a couple's life. I ain't gonna go on a tangent, because I'm a lazy douchebag but ask any sane, loving person and they'll tell you right.

My point is, it is fair to criticize ANYONE for gold-digging, because it's scummy and repulsive. No matter who does it. And men DO NOT marry for looks, because a lil secret from a guy who's seen and felt it all; sex and attraction become SO INCREDIBLY BORING when you're just with someone for their looks. A one-night stand or a hook up can be amazingly fun, but LIVING WITH and creating a LIFE WITH someone you don't actually LOVE? Absolutely not. No man wants to spend their life with someone they only like because they think that person is hot.

TL:DR You can criticize anyone of any gender for anything, regardless of "but this gender does this other thing that's unrelated". And nobody wants to spend their life with someone they value as no more than a sex-toy. Grow up.
