LETS GO!

[–]gmanex 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Let's come

[–]Duck-Says-Quack 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I won’t take this unless there’s hard in stone proof that it does nothing permanent to my sperm production and I’m able to produce healthy active semen when I’m ready to have kids

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pefectly fine 👍

[–]albertienstien 49 points50 points51 points 4 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Theres a non invasive injection that one can get in India that lasts 5-7 years. Big drug companies keep blocking human trials in the US because they make so much money on recurring birth female birth control.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reversible_inhibition_of_sperm_under_guidance

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Interesting! Thank you very much for sharing. Will definitely look into this.

[–]non-troll_account 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I have done my damndest to find out how to get this and what it would take to travel to india to get it, but there is absolutely no information on it anywhere. Both google and bing scrub their search results of any usable information on how to get it.

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

have you tried others like duckduckgo?

[–]non-troll_account 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Duckduckgo just uses Bing underneath.

[–]bajeebles 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I found this out myself. It’s just a modified Bing client.

[–]Frosty-Gate-8094 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Its still under trial.
The reversibility hasn't been fully tested yet. (Its a long term injection, so it will be 5-7 years before the reversibility is fully tested in long-term).

If successful, it will be a game-changer for birth control.

Indian patenting laws will also allow it to be way cheaper than what would have been, if an American company had developed it.

[–]non-troll_account 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It won't be a game changer. The pharmaceutical companies have all the information they need on it; it cannot be made highly profitable, so they have no intention of ever letting it get to market. They don't need to know anything else, and put all their research on pills that can be sold repeatedly.

[–]Frosty-Gate-8094 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It was developed in 2018.

The initial trails were promising.

'All the information' is a vague term.

The study subjects injected in 2018, will be checked for reversibility in 2023-25.

Unless reversibility is proven, it cannot be marketed as 'safe'.

The reversibility is the biggest difference between vasagel and other permanent sterilization methods.

Unless reversibility is demonstrated in the long-run, it cannot be approved by FDA.

[–]hmspain 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Eh, they will soon (I hope) be making big money on recurring male birth control :-).

This is GREAT news!

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Does that mean that if a man who didn't take this impregnates a woman while she is sexually assaulting him, it's his fault?

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You'd have to ask a lawyer about that I suppose.

The whole topic of female on male sexual assault is a mine belt of it's own and I'm by no means able (and thus willing) to give a qualified response.

But how are feminist going to get child support now?

I guarantee you, they will try to pass a law making it so that the men using birth control without the knowledge of their wife/long term girlfriend is rape!

[–]ChaosOpen 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're putting a lot of faith in this getting through the FDA.

[–]VioletFoxx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men being able to use contraceptives in the same way women do would be awesome for women. I would love it if my husband could also be on contraceptives (we're exploring the vasectomy route). It makes so much sense, given how many women could theoretically be impregnated by one man.

[–]Party-Stormer 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I doubt western countries will ever approve this because:

  • it will decrease birth rates further

  • it gives males now sexual freedom

Sure, trials may suggest it works, but governments will report that side effects are excessive compared to benefits and will nuke this pill.

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

On the functional level it provides nothing that condoms (if used and discarded properly) don't already provide. So this isn't as much a "game changer" as you might think.

[–]VioletFoxx -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Genuine question, do you think men don't have sexual freedom?

[–]Valzemodeus 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I'll bite.

Define sexual freedom.

[–]VioletFoxx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

The definition is what I was trying to discern from the original comment.

I would define sexual freedom as the ability to have the kind of consensual sex you want without judgement, with consequences mitigated.

Edit: I did wonder whether the original commentor meant reproductive freedom.

[–]Valzemodeus 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

The sexual "Freedom" you are eluding to (ie without "judgement") requires responsibility bordering on the unilateral.

I think your view of reality is skewed by a lens of envy, which fails to grasp the Tykhe and Nemesis of the situation (the upside and the down side).

When you are a man, you are responsible for your sexual well being.

Nobody else is.

Period.

Men are not "judged" because they can not weaponize sex socially with anything remotely near the same devastating results.

Essentially, the narrative that "every guy wants it" makes them 100% vulnerable to sexual assault and even rape, with no consequences to the perpetrator should it be a woman. Rape victims can even wind up paying child support to their rapist, among potentially worse things.

Even a 12 year old boy taken advantage of by his babysitter bears more responsibility than a grown woman. He has no choice but to be burdened by HER predation.

"Consequences mitigated".

...

...

...

Riiiiiiiight....

And whether a boy barely entering puberty or a full grown man, he is assumed to be fully responsible for any sexual encounter.

The reason men are not "judged" for sleeping around is because they bear that responsibility, while women play a game of "shroedingers sexuality", which men can not.

"Rawr, I'm a sexual creature" (an agent)

"omg, I got drunk at a bar and taken advantage of" (an object... like a child... under the age of 12... and not a boy.)

...

She can then use the accusation of being a "predator" to hurt the "offender", which can result in ostracism, loss of job (and home/family/etc), imprisonment and worse.

A man has no such recourse.

He is judged to be responsible by default.

He has no other option.

He is always responsible for his own well being. No one will punish his assailant.

He could be passed out cold and no one would care if he gets taken advantage of or the consequences to his life and future as a result of a woman taking advantage of him, whether it's emotional trauma (ignored/denied), child support to his rapist or worse.

He's a man.

Being born a man means he was "asking for it" in the eyes of society (and thus the laws), and that he is nothing but an animal looking to breed as much as possible. Just ask the "red pillers"... that's all they aspire to.

...

I'm going to point to something a feminist said to try to express this better.

At one point, some guy on twitter said that if a woman doesn't want to be taken advantage of she needs to not put herself in those situations (ie get drunk and go to some guys apt, etc).

The feminist said "you would never say that to a man".

One person then went on to say that rape laws needed to be addressed so that predatory women face the same onus as a predatory man.

The feminist argued no such change was necessary because men are physically larger.

So... if a man doesn't want that to happen to him (which is more frequent than far too many people want to talk about), he should "not put himself in that situation".

If that guy would never say it to a man it is because any man with two brain cells already knows this.

Unilateral responsibility.

But only for men.

The reason a man isn't "judged" is because he is on his own.

Women want to be protected.

You can't have it both ways.

You either bear the same unilateral responsibility, or you deal with being looked down on for "putting yourself in those situations" and then crying when something bad happens and expecting the "adults who have to stand on their own because they tend to be physically larger" to fix it for you by punishing someone who "took advantage" of you.

And it is not always true... also more frequently than too many people want to admit.

And thus weaponized.

You become a burden and a hazard to those who are forced to stand on their own, and anyone who actually cares about them, who will tell you to avoid putting yourself into those situations or shut up because you accepted the risks when you took them... like a man.

Freedom has it's price.

Responsibility.

Most women are not willing to pay it.

And I can't say I blame them entirely because men are generally physically larger.

But, if you want things to change you will have to discard that excuse.

Smaller men (or even boys going through the emotional turmoil of puberty) don't get exempted from these social rules. They are still men in the eyes of society and the law.

They don't get a pass, and they aren't given "justice" when bad things happen to them.

Why should you?

[–]VioletFoxx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

This could be a "me" problem but I'm finding that this reply is far more complicated (could be the formatting) than it needs to be so while I will do my best to respond in full I ask you to forgive any misconceptions I have about what you're saying.

Yes, I agree that the framing of men as beings who want sex all the time is very harmful. I grew up in a religious setting where this view is very prevalent, where women are oppressed into modesty to avoid causing men to "stumble", which also frames sexual assaults as the fault of women. "What were you wearing?" etc. This view of men as rabidly sexual is bad and I am sure it feels like a burden. It isn't something I personally can understand so thank you for explaining how it feels. Societally we need to do more to change that perspective. We agree on that.

Women take so many precautions to protect against sexual assault and your take here comes across very flippant. Sure, there will be outliers where a woman changes her story to accuse the man but sadly the majority of sexual assault accusations are genuine. "Putting oneself in that situation" is usually just trying to go about daily life and it's sad to hear how little understanding you have of the ways in which women try to avoid being assaulted. It's like there's a secret code we all follow, which is why you hear "even though she did all the right things..." when a woman is harmed. Women have been taking responsibility for their sexual wellbeing since the dawn of time, my friend. It's OK that you don't know, because it doesn't affect you in the same way, but this is a really bad faith take.

I agree that seeing articles where a woman has sexually assaulted a minor or a teacher assaulting a student is jarring when compared to the articles where the roles are reversed. This is very bad and I do call it out where I see it.

Men are not judged because historically men have been the arbiters of who is judged and for what. Let's not forget that. One of the reasons men are feeling more vulnerable now is because women have more power than we have ever previously had.

I don't feel you have addressed my initial question at all, really. I understand and agree with your perspective that the assumption men will enjoy any and all sexual attention is very harmful but ultimately I don't feel you have explained why sexual freedom itself is not something men have.  This could just be a "we define things differently" thing, but hyperfocusing in on assault just ignores all the other elements at play, especially when the truth is we know that there is a lower risk of sexual assault of men by women.

I appreciate the time you took to reply and explain your perspective.

[–]Valzemodeus -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I think this is a "you" problem.

Also, you should look up the word flippant before using it so haphazardly.

[–]VioletFoxx -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

I know what flippant means, thanks, and I'm confident in my usage here. For instance, your rude reply (which took you nine days to make) to my considered and careful post is very flippant.

[–]Valzemodeus -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Your reply was condescending and dismissive.

That you can not see that is not my shortcoming. It is, admittedly, a "you" problem.

Let's say, for arguments sake, that I AM one of those sexual assault victims.

One of the millions surveyed by the CDC survey I linked you.

I will never get justice because of the bias you presented in your condescending and self flattering monologue.

Why should I, who have experienced your "outlier" scenario, take your response as anything other than flippant?

Rude is relative.

Pretty words do not change the nature of a statement.

[–]VioletFoxx -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

My reply was balanced, fair, and based in truth. In conversations with MRAs I am always careful to address all sides. The outlier comment is because there is a narrative on this sub that this is happening all the time, which creates a culture of fear. If that did happen to you then I am sorry.

There's no need to resort to blame apportioning or assuming my motivations. I don't think this conversation is very useful to either of us, so I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Why are half of the comment just about putting women down in a negative way? This is nice thing, more choice and freedom. And some of yall just use it to weaponize others?

[–]BoTheJoV3 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol all of the men and women focused subs are like this

[–]OC262 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Fuck that. I’m PRO men’s rights and I understand how the deck is stacked against us. But I rather throw on the dreaded raincoat than shoot blanks. Respect to you men who disagree. Just my own opinion to the mix.

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Perfectly fine 👍

[–]ATGGTCGATAATGAATCTTC 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

there is no way this will be allowed to fly. The whole *fucked up system breaks down if men have control over their reproduction. How will women get their retirement ticket punched?

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Most men & women still reproduce voluntarily with each other. Sperm jacking and pregnancy entrapment happens, but it's not as common as you might think

[–]Mugw0mpus -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Let's see how feminazis react

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'd assume that they will be happy for the most part. The pill isn't without side affects and having the man take care of birth control reliefs women from having to do that.

[+]WillCuckSmith -11 points-10 points-9 points 4 years ago (46 children) | Copy Link

This is great and all, but we still need reproductive rights. This only helps the woman with HER responsibility.

I'd never take it, because I'm sure there will be side effects.

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

We'll it will help negative rights since it will help men to protect themselves from sperm jacking and pregnancy entrapment.

You are right never the less, positive rights will still need to be adressed.

[–]Angryasfk -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

That’s true. However if paternity tests are banned, as in France, what’s to stop them?

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That is a very special french singularity. I don't know of any other country where this is the case. If you know of any, please share.

[–]Angryasfk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So far, no. But the precedent has been set. If it becomes an issue, I’m sure we’ll hear calls for it to be introduced elsewhere.

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sure. That might in deed happen.

I still consider this progress. Giving men more options to control their fertility as they see fit is a good thing in my book.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (22 children) | Copy Link

What would you like to see?

[–]WillCuckSmith 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

The only way for men to have reproductive rights is for child support to be opt-in only.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago* (20 children) | Copy Link

Why? Are you aware what child support does?

[–]WillCuckSmith 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

I've tried to think of any other way, and that's the only way that will work logically.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

What’s logical about a kid growing up without financial support?

[–]WillCuckSmith 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

What's even more fucked up is a man being made to pay a whole lot of money for something he never wanted and thus fucking up his life.

Kid will be just fine on welfare with his stupid mother. Don't worry about him. Let's worry about the people who are actual people instead of potential.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

So you’re basically saying the woman and child aren’t people? They are potential? What?

Don’t want a child? Use a condom or don’t have sex with someone. Forcing someone to have an abortion is an act of violence.

How did you grow into these views? It’s obvious you’re a troll or a new (not yet banned) account. Just curious how you got here.

[–]WillCuckSmith 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

So you’re basically saying the woman and child aren’t people? They are potential? What?

Why would you bring women and children into this? I'm talking about the zygote/fetus. It's not an actual person yet, no. It's a potential.

An actual person's rights trumps that of a potential. If a woman is going to get pregnant and carry it to term without his permission, he shouldn't have to pay for it. It's that simple.

Not sure why you're talking about the "woman" in the context you did. If anything, you should be talking to women and asking them why they're popping out babies that men do not want.

Don’t want a child? Use a condom or don’t have sex with someone.

We are talking about reproductive rights for men, not taking actions that only help the woman with her responsibility of pregnancy.

Forcing someone to have an abortion is an act of violence.

I never said anything about forcing anyone to have an abortion. WTF is wrong with you? I said men shouldn't have to pay for a woman's choice/actions. Pay attention.

How did you grow into these views?

You mean equality? I use my brain. I'm governed by logic and reason.

It’s obvious you’re a troll or a new (not yet banned) account.

You don't know what a troll is. A troll is someone who says things they do not mean. I mean what I say.

And yes, Reddit tends to be a really crappy leftist forum. I wouldn't be surprised.

Just curious how you got here.

I think of what would be fair for men. Making them pay for stuff they never wanted is not fair. Thus, they must be able to NOT pay for something they never wanted. Pretty simple stuff, yea?

That’s the same argument that anarchists use about taxes. If you were responsible for the conception of a child, you are financially responsible for that child as it grows up.

Do you need me to explain it in simpler terms for you?

I don't get the downvotes, he is right, we still need reproductive rights!

[–]WillCuckSmith -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes.. thank you so much for the support. I only deal with logic and reason.. glad to see there are fellow users out there. :)

[–]VioletFoxx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Birth control has been the responsibility of women since it existed because it's women who get fucking pregnant. We don't need "help".

I would have thought - based on how many comments here are about baby-trapping - men would want to be able to control their reproductive rights without a surgical procedure or a condom.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

It not that they don't want control over reproductive rights it's that they don't get their hopes up because all other attempts at making a male birth control pill have failed. The last one they tried to make caused suicidal thoughts in 70% of participants and 4 men committed suicide. The pill before that caused permanent sterilization in 1 in 4.

[–]VioletFoxx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

The commenter above said "We still need reproductive rights." What does that mean in this context? (Asking genuinely)

I get it, that's fair. I didn't know that about previous iterations; that's awful. It's hard to imagine there will be any kind of hormone altering contraceptive without side effects though, just look at the side effects of the pill for women.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Does the side affects of female birth control cause suicidal thoughts in 70% of participants or permanent sterilization, no it doesn't. There are side affects but they're no where near as bad as what I just stated, so you can't use that as a comparison.

As for the reproductive rights, what they're trying to say is giving men birth control pills isn't going to fix everything. Your still going to have women baby trapping men because the guys in love or naive and thinks she wouldn't lie to him when she says she on birth control so he doesnt need to be. Your still going to have men who are raped who are not on birth control and thier rapist ends up pregnant. Making male birth control won't fix those problems, so we have to find other ways to fix them, because as it stands those men could still be put on the line for child support of a child they did not want and were forced to pay for. This not taking into account other reproductive rights like how most doctors won't perform vasectomies on men unless they have a partners permission, are above 35 or have two children already.

[–]VioletFoxx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I was saying it's unlikely there would never be any side effects and I agreed those effects are awful. I'm not comparing them.

I hear what you're saying. If a contraceptive for men existed they would at least be able to have greater control over whether or not they caused a pregnancy, which would be positive. Unfortunately it would be very difficult to prevent those scenarios you've mentioned but they are obviously outliers. You're never going to be able to fully mitigate against horrible people.

And agreed on the vasectomy thing. It's the same with sterilisations for women. The problem with the medical treatments is the prevalence of suing.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I know, the point I and others are trying to make is birth control isn't the fix all alot people seem to think it is, so we have to have other road blocks in place if that makes sense. Like not making rape victims pay child support for a child they don't want or giving them the choice of keeping the child if they want them instead of letting the rapist make that decision(barring obviously, if the pregnancy is going to be lethal, even if they are a rapist, we don't need kill them, just punish accordingly).

[–]VioletFoxx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I understand what you're saying. I think contraceptives are still a great starting point because they would resolve at least some of the issues you've mentioned.

The pregnancy/parenthood thing is so complicated and there's no solution for every single situation. My personal philosophy is that absolutely no one should be forced into birth or parenthood: it would be so incredibly damaging for all involved. I do think there should be some form of government assistance for women to raise children if the father doesn't want to be in the picture, and vice versa.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree in most cases, but if you rape somebody I firmly believe you loose those rights. Women is raped by a man and gets pregnant? Dude gotta own up to whatever she chooses, whether that be paying for her abortion or pay child support if she decides to keep it. Man gets raped by women and women gets pregnant? Barring the pregnancy being as I said lethal, then I think she should have to carry to term and pay child support if he wants and if he wants an abortion then she's gotta have one and pay for it herself too.

[–]VioletFoxx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's fair enough.

[–]VioletFoxx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Btw I looked this up and can only see results from a trial in 2016 where it's reported one participant developed depression and one participant killed himself. The other side effects (aside from affecting sperm production) were very similar to the pill for women: acne, mood swings, changes to libido, etc.

Am I looking at the right thing?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

No, that's not it, the one I'm talking about was done in Australia, back around 2012. I don't have the link my self as it was posted along with a whole lot of others in a comment from a few months back. How ever it was an official link and not some tabloid, so I'm sure if you do some searching you can find it. This stuff tends to be hard to find because researchers don't exactly want thier major failures on blast, you know?

[–]WillCuckSmith -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Birth control has been the responsibility of women since it existed because it's women who get fucking pregnant.

Yup, but it's not as much of their responsibility as it should be, imo. If it was enough, then the courts wouldn't make men pay for children they never wanted.

We don't need "help".

Well that's what condoms and such are for - to help YOU with avoiding pregnancy, for one.

I would have thought - based on how many comments here are about baby-trapping - men would want to be able to control their reproductive rights without a surgical procedure or a condom.

Again, condoms only help the woman with her responsibility of pregnancy.

Sexual mutilation, or as you call it "surgical procedures", is not a reproductive right that we need to be happy with and live with only.

The only way to give men reproductive rights is to make child support opt-in.

Yes, baby-trapping is a real thing.

[–]VioletFoxx 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well yes, men have to play a role in being responsible for a pregnancy they caused. Contraceptives are not 100% effective and unplanned pregnancy is not possible without sperm.

Condoms also protect against the transmission of STIs, although this is less relevant in long term relationships.

If you're having sex with a woman with no plan to get pregnant then you both have a responsibility to avoid that possibility. As discussed, women cannot have unplanned pregnancies without men, hence men having to be responsible in cases where they cause one.

Sexual mutilation 😂 you realise that if a woman wants to become permanently sterile she also has to undergo a procedure like that, right? If you want to remove the possibility of either impregnating or becoming pregnant you have to perform a surgical procedure.

I actually don't disagree with you on the opt in thing but if that were the case there would need to be abortion access/proper health care/some form of government assistance available for the pregnant woman.

Baby-trapping is nowhere near as common as this sub would have you believe.

[–]WillCuckSmith -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well yes, men have to play a role in being responsible for a pregnancy they caused.

Why should men have to play a role for a pregnancy the woman caused?

Contraceptives are not 100% effective and unplanned pregnancy is not possible without sperm.

Yup. Women should seriously take this into consideration before they have sex. You're right.

Condoms also protect against the transmission of STIs, although this is less relevant in long term relationships.

Not relevant to this discussion.

If you're having sex with a woman with no plan to get pregnant then you both have a responsibility to avoid that possibility.

Pregnancy is, once again, 100% the responsibility of the woman. So no, men do NOT have a responsibility for the condition of the female body... nor should they.

As discussed, women cannot have unplanned pregnancies without men, hence men having to be responsible in cases where they cause one.

Pregnancy is a condition of the female. We are all responsible for the condition of our own bodies. It doesn't matter if she got a donation of sperm or not. Getting pregnant and having it to term, AND keeping it are all her choices because it's her body and her responsibility. Men play no part in those choices.

Sexual mutilation 😂

Yes, getting fixed as a man is sexual mutilation. That's exactly what it is. For you to laugh and make light of that is just disgusting.

you realise that if a woman wants to become permanently sterile she also has to undergo a procedure like that, right?

So what? What does that have to do with this discussion?

If you want to remove the possibility of either impregnating or becoming pregnant you have to perform a surgical procedure.

Not a part of this discussion, once again.

I actually don't disagree with you on the opt in thing but if that were the case there would need to be abortion access/proper health care/some form of government assistance available for the pregnant woman.

I don't care if there is government assistance for that or not. However, we don't NEED it to have the reproductive right for men.

Baby-trapping is nowhere near as common as this sub would have you believe.

It happens quite often, and even if it didn't, we'd still need to be protected from it.

I see the mistake I made here: I assumed you had something rational to say. Never mind, I won't bother in future. 😊

What’s wrong with condoms

[–]shit-zen-giggles[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

nothing. Condoms are great for preventing STDs and pregnancy. But many people in long term relationships like to go with other options for a better feeling.

Currently, the only other option available for men is vasectomy which is quite high impact and effort and not always perfectly reversible.

Therefore more options for men to control their fertility is a welcome news in my book.

[–]Mysterious-Example85 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just mix up pulling out and condoms, I would never take this pill I’m worried about like being sterilized or some other side effect and yeah sometimes condoms kill my wood but idk maybe im a little careless if im in a committed relationship I do usually just raw dog
