Hear me out.. why aren't there more support facilities for men? Women have disproportionately more support services and facilities for mental, financial, emotional etc. Issues.

Most homeless people are men. Desperation fuels crime. Nothing to lose, a lot to gain. So if we only had some focus on male sex abuse victims, male violence abuse victims, homeless and disadvantaged men etc.

If you look at countries statistics on poverty vs crime, you will always see that countries with higher rates of poverty also have much higher rates of crime. So, why is it a surprise when men that don't have access to the same quantity and quality of services as women, don't have access to the same welfare schemes and government benefits, have domestic and sexual abuse issues dismissed or ignored, and are frowned or laughed at by society for experiencing any of the previous, commit crime? If I was angry with society and had nothing to lose, I'd probably do stupid shit too for the welfare of myself and my family.

I'm not saying this as a cure to crime, but I would gamble everything I own that providing the services I mentioned would have a positive effect on reducing crime committed by men (and hence, less male and female victims, win for everyone).

Oh absolutely!

In my country the centers for survivors are gender neutral(anyone can get support) and they are government funded. My country also has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. This should prove your point fairly well.

Having these support centers help victims so much that it's appalling that the same support is not avaliable for everyone. All people in dire situations deserve support in any way possible. Homeless shelters and help centers should be more accessible for everyone.

If we were to talk about poverty in all these cases, there would be alot to unpack in terms of individual, national, social and worldwide standards because it differs from country to country. However, there is no doubt that helping people facing difficulty will provide a safer more comfortable environment for all. Countries are hindered by social values, societal structures, corruption etc, so economy in itself is a whole problem.

If we were to look at the USA as an example though, money is inevenly distributed, and shelters rely on charity and help from organisations. Since the norm is "men can fend for themselves and are strong" people won't feel like they need help. Sidenote, I call this 'toxic masculinity' though i have a feeling the term isnt taken very well. Toxic masculinity is the cultural pressure towards men that pushes them to behave in a certain way. This means not accepting help, not needing help, repressed emotions etc. Im sure you already know this, but i felt the need to adress it regardless. Toxic masculinity affect men negatively in all aspects of life, but specifically in this context, not receiving help. Men deserve and need help, and it's largely ingrained in culture that men don't need help on the basis of being men. This is a gendered issue thats been present for generations, meaning men today are suffering for beliefs that are centuries old. Shelters for men are missing because the norm says they don't need them. Then look at who pays for the shelters. People and charities. They're given money by people that have grown up under the pretense of men not needing help because they can fend for themselves. Therefore, the money goes to children and women, who are then viewed as weaker than men. Men and women all need help, but norms state otherwise. Personally I think there need to be more government funded shelters and help centers that cater to especially men, and women. Not only in the US, but everywhere.

It would only matter if your intent was to prove that 'men are bad'. By saying the murderer's are also male, you're trying to "balance the scales" so that men still come out as bad agent.

In other words, that was an extremely bigoted response.

If violence is counted as ANY non-consensual contact so it included things like thrown drinks or even "playful" slapping, women are far more violent than women.

Because men are being in our society, a society which views men as disposable and women as indispensable, thereby answering your question how women benefit from men's suffering.

Within sexist gender norms, men are perceived to have hyper-agency: always and in all ways responsible.

When our society mistreats men - as shown by the homeless rate, the suicide rate and the workplace death rate - it's up to men only to fix it.

When our society mistreats women - who are the majority of college graduates, the majority of scholarship recipients, least likely to be murdered or injured and many other privileges - it's somehow still up to men to fix it.

Women choose less dangerous, less demanding and less rigorous work and so get paid less on average? It's up to men to fix that!

You might might a point if the campaign was neutral. It isn't. It genders the issue and frames men solely as perpetrators

same thing if the tables were turned, for example ignoring the fact that men serve longer jail sentences than women

it is not "pitting the sexes against each other" if it was not said with malicious intent which it wasnt, i am simply stating a fact with an unbiased opinion of both sexes

if i were to go into great detail about this topic then i would be sure to include that both men and women are affected by sexual harassment however in this case you already knew what i meant so it was not necessary

im not sure what you mean by "campaign", im assuming you mean an official debate or claim in which case i am not referencing any official debate by bringing this point up, although it is true that men and women who commit the same crimes are typically given unequal punishments in favor of women

im assuming youre stating that the sexes will naturally pit themselves against each other because the topic falls under abuse, harassment, or violence because its taken very seriously, which might be true, but that does not dispute the fact that I as in me specifically did not pit the sexes against each other simply by stating a fact, if the sexes go after each other because i pointed out an unbiased fact then that is due to their own ignorance and inability to be civil

When it's used in this context it's against something. In this case it's against sexual harassment
