I’m now hitting the 6 month mark of being legally separated and I can’t wait to put as much of my failed marriage behind me as I can. For context: I’m the one that filed, ex had substantial mental health issues following the birth of our only child, I was very supportive of her but she checked out of the marriage and it ultimately fell apart.

Now onto my current predicament. Since the date of separation ex has refused to pay half of shared bills and only contributed a fraction of what I did. We sold our home several months after separation but the funds are being kept in my attorney’s trust for now. She currently owes me more than $9k for her half of shared bills since date of separation but still insists she’s only obligated to pay the percentage of our bills she contributed towards before being served. My attorney has assured me she is responsible for half of shared bills since date of separation. I’m struggling financially but still holding out on releasing the house money until she agrees to put what she owes me over to my side of the column. I don’t think I’ll ever see that money again if it doesn’t come out of the house money. I’m not sure how much longer I can hold out. Has anyone else been in this type of situation? I know the judge could rule on this in court and I’m worried I’m going to get screwed. I’m in California if that makes a difference. Any feedback here would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.
