After 23 years I had enough and moved out. We have a home in North Carolina and another in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania house is free and clear of any mortgage and the North Carolina house has a mortgage. A week after I left and moved to Florida she left the North Carolina house empty, filed for divorce in North Carolina and moved to Pennsylvania. Her lawyer sent me a letter stating the the stbx wants to keep the Pennsylvania house and I will keep the North Carolina house. She is also requesting 2000.00 a month in alimony indefinitely. I just started a new job a month before I left. She has left the dental field and took a job paying 1/3 of her potential earnings. The numbers are me 140K her 25K. Her lawyer is trying to lowball the value of the Pennsylvania house zillow estimate is 200K the North Carolina house 200K with a balance of 100K.
Bottom line I want her to keep the Pennsylvania property and I keep the North Carolina house. Every thing else is petty and insignificant.
Do I need to hire an attorney in North Carolina or can I use one in Florida? Any recommendations in Fort Myers?
Do you think I will have to pay alimony for the rest of my life?
Thanks in advance.
