I always thought it was hunters, farmers, and soldiers.

We were hunters first. Then, we were farmers. Then after that, we got villages, cities, kingdoms, empires, etc. and we were soldiers.

Never really understood the prostitution thing.

Back then, if you were a man, you got a wife, mistress, or a slave girl.

Or…if you were really mean and nasty…you were rapey and captured women during war.

I always hate the 'oldest profession' argument.

First off - so what? How does that justify it?

Secondly - I highly doubt that it actually was the first profession. Are you telling me when money was invented, women started selling themselves and meanwhile farmers, cobblers, builders, blacksmiths etc were all standing around thinking 'Man if only there was something I could do for people for money...'
