Retirement plan with 1 million total, $500 K each

From there it just becomes horse trading.

Ahhhhh, you half everything required….. you realize, if you’re getting divorced, your ex-wife is going to have to have something to say about your Excel spreadsheet, lol

in Ontario Canada we use form 13.1/13.2 government form you can download for free.

https://ontariocourtforms.on.ca/static/media/uploads/courtforms/family/13\_1/flr-13-1-e.pdf it's goverment form so overly complicated but it's what's used here and at least gives you a good list of what to look at for assets.

The idea is that you write down what your worth is right now (half of house, shared savings etc)

and she writes down what she owes

then you come to a number and if one is higher than the other then you equalize it out by any number of means

so at the end you both walk away with 50% of what the marriage assets grew by

but that doesn't mean you have to cut everything in half.. e.g. you can keep the car but she gets more of the house

you don't cash out your retirements savings/plans but you give up somewhere else.

I use MS excel with a spreadsheet. It has all of my accounts and current balances. It has my debts and current balances. And at the bottom, it lists all monthly and recurring bills and when I paid them.

I used this extensively when I was separating from the exwife,

I tried to give me exwife a blank copy of it, so she could do the same post divorce. You probably seen this coming?

Post divorce I’m doing great. Zero debt other than cars and house. Loads of money in each account. Credit cards are paid off each month.

Post divorce? She’s been sued multiple times over unpaid credit and bad loans. She couldn’t weather a $300 storm.
