As usual, the liberal company The Guardian decides to take a negative spin on it. I say regardless of gender if one commits a crime they should be punished at the exact same severity as if the other gender did the crime. Plain & simple. Punishments should be equal across all socioeconomic cohorts, not just specific ones.

Maybe, more women are being arested and convicted because an increase in technology has increased the amount of evidence, and they are going to jail for crimes they would have previously gotten away with.

That happened (will happen) with Courtney Cleney who was released after her interview with police, and would still be free if it wasnt for Christian's family pushing because of elevator video, recordings on his phone and text messages recording her abusing him.

Similarly Sarah Boon would probably have gotten off lightly on the claim of drunken acident 'play' if she hadn't filmed herself cursing Jorge out while he begged for his life.

Tecnology is making more evidence available when previously the uncertainty favoured all perpetrators but favoured women much moreso.

Susan Kigula, a signatory to the letter who was wrongly convicted for the murder of her husband and spent 16 years in prison before becoming a lawyer in Uganda, said it was sad that organisations and individuals still looked down on women who went to prison and did not include them in policy decisions.

I looked her up. Contrary to The Guardian's claims it seems she was rightfully convicted for the violent and bloody murder of her husband twice based on evidence in her home and testimony from one of her own children. She was never acquitted or pardoned and her charges were never dismissed. She did have her sentence reduced from death to 16 years after petitioning for a retrial that found her guilty a second time. The Guardian might be the most blatantly biased "news" organization when it comes to gender hypocrisy and that's really saying something.

At the same time, they laud higher conviction rates of men. They see that as men getting deserved punishment, especially in connection to alleged crimes against women. When women get put in jail, it is a crime against humanity?

Here's the thinking of the GB police, basically offering a 'Get Out Of Jail Free' card.

I would like to see the comparison of how charitable much funding is there for one male prisoner compared to one female prisoner. I am myself unable to do this kind of research. Where is academia when men need help?

How about we lower the incarceration rate for nonviolent crime and stop trying to get equal by shoveling shit over their side of the fence.

Any of you applauding the raise in nonviolent offenders being put into the prison system of any gender are not here to be helpful members of an equality group.

Prison is a fucking nightmare that breaks people for the rest of their lives. No one deserves the US prison system.
