I don't think they're worried about her showing some ass, unless the store is run by all women or something. They're probably more worried about the reactions she'll get and the problems that can cause.

So instead of trying to protect her from sexual harassment and a scene breaking out in their store, it's probably much easier to just kick her out.

Regarding the way she was treated? Fairly. The exact same thing would have happened if she were ugly, a man, a pensioner, a child, whatever. Walking about in a thong with half your ass exposed is not appropriate for being at a grocery store. Beach? Fine. Context is important.
