CMV As Men we are not allowed to complain about Women standards, because back in the day we had a system that forced Women to date undesirable man. This what we see today is just the „fair“ game.

What did we do in the ~60s?

We had a system which benefited (dating wise) man hugely. A 5‘2 overweight Dude was able to bag a wife with no effort because SHE HAD TO date him. She didnt want it, but she had to.

In the 60s? The 1860s maybe.

We haven’t had arranged marriage in the US in a very long time. Women in the 1960s mostly married men that they met and dated in high school or college. No one was forcing women to date specific men.

Being overweight wasn’t common in the 60s though. I have pictures of my mother and father and their friends in the 60s-70s and there’s like no 300 pound people. Most people ate mostly at home, and a much less highly processed diet. People used to eat a lot more fresh fruit and veggies and other things like that with fibre that keeps you full all day. Then they also had much more active lifestyles.

Women also preferred tall guys before social media became more prominent. I went to high school in 2007-2012 when the best social media platforms were Facebook and MySpace, and all the girls in my grade were fawning over tall guys, talking about how they wanted to date them etc.

Even throughout history only about 40% of men reproduced as to 80% of women.

Truth is there was never a guarantee for every man to find a wife or even have sex. In fact today it's probably easier than ever even for very unfortunate men. Also, if you look at a 50s or 60s yearbook, you barely see any overweight/deformed looking men because our current lifestyle is much more degenerating.

Their lives might be governed by men, but there is a safeguard to keep her from being forced into things she doesn't want to do. It's her family. She has a father and usually brothers. They don't just let creeps come in and demand things from her. Anyone that wants to marry her has to live up to her male relatives standards, and they love her and they're not allowing that fuckery.

And that's still the way a lot of traditional people live even if it's not enforced by law. The woman has a standard set by her father. He loved her and cared for her. And any suitor that asks him for permission to marry his daughter has to measure up. The father hands over the daughter to the groom at the wedding, entrusting the groom to care for her the way he did all her life. That's how traditional relationships worked.

So no, women didn't have full freedom with traditional relationship dynamics. But they also weren't enslaved by random creeps. That bullshit you said about men being able to force women into relationships was garbage.

In patriarchy, it's not men doing whatever they want. It's men dealing with other men. And men are pretty protective of the people around them.

Except in the relatively rare situations where rich, powerful men have had multiple wives or harems, monogamy has largely been the system which humans have dated, mated and raised children throughout history. It’s not that women were “manipulated”, it’s that we are now in a governmental and economic system where women no longer need men on an individual level for the first time in history.

Nothing about this is really “natural”. If we took away the provisioning that men help provide on a societal level, women would likely need men once again. It’s not about “manipulation” at all.

The reason we have this setup, of course, is because women in the workforce and with political power benefits the elite capitalists greatly by making them wealthier. These men have no problem finding women who want to date them and/or have sex with them, so the concerns of less fortunate men don’t concern them.

One could argue that an uneducated minority of men without female partners is unstable for society, but I think that it’s obvious that having women in the workforce benefits the capitalists more, especially as much of the work that low value men traditionally have done is now being automated, sent offshore, or given to immigrants who are trying to provide for families that still need them, unlike how western women no longer need men.
