Definitely do not get married. Only have kids with someone who makes at least as much as you do, and make sure she keeps working. Otherwise you'll be sunk for CS.

Unfortunately, I’d have to agree with the don’t get married part. At least not in a western country.

As far as having kids. Being extremely cautious with picking the mother of your child is paramount. Custody bullshit can last years and be a nuisance over and over. The possibility of parental alienation also exists and it’s beyond fucked up.

Child support is not worth it and runs directly contrary to your previously stated goal of making more money... assuming you accomplish that part, then you get to pay more child support!

The probability that you end up on child support during your child's life is extremely high. I ended up 'on it' before my daughter was 1yo.

Another important note is child support and custody are two separate topics. Just because you pay child support doesn't mean you even get to see your kids, infact the mother is essentially rewarded by fighting for as much custody as she can get, to maximize the child support... and if you don't pay per the order, you literally could end up in jail. There are also entire government departments focused on collection of the debt of "child support", but there are none which will help you enforce a custody order.

Having my daughter, while I do love and care about her, was the biggest mistake of my life. I got a vasectomy within 6mo of my child's mother kicking me out as I never want to go through this again with anyone... and my ex I would say is 'moderate' in terms of how much of a pain in the ass as a coparent she is.

If you are deadset of having children, pay a surrogate or go to a country without CS. By the time I have finished paying my obligation, I could have paid for a surrogate several times over and raised a child to adulthood.

Get married, marriage is great, that’s why it’s the default in almost every significant culture. Do not take advice from guys who in one breath tell you how miserable they are and in the next tell you they have life figured out.

Instead of focusing on your perspective partners earnings, focus on her grey matter. You want her to have a lot of it. It will keep things interesting
