I have a friend who is in deep with the redpill shit that he never fails to bring up age gap related things in conversation and how older women are used goods, walled etc.

Ive come to the conclusion that it's a projection of sorts to do with his own mortality. The mental and psychological constructs these internet era ideologies and beliefs people have fallen into is disconcerting and astounding.

Psychology/therapy will be a booming industry in the coming years and will probably see a revival.

When it comes to people who are 18-22ish dating people significantly older I think it's a case by case basis.

There are cases where those people just happen to be compatible, and that's ok.

There are cases where the older person only ever dates people who are barely legal, and that's creepy.

There are cases where the younger person is very naive and eazy to manipulate, and that's creepy.

This particular case sounds particularly creepy. A 47 year old marries an 18 year old who has never even kissed anyone? "Child bride" isn't accurate, but "creep who took advantage of a very naive and sheltered person" is. Though, I'd have to meet them personally to be sure.

In rare cases, sometimes those people are on equal footing. Sometimes the older person really does have pure intentions and they just so happened to hit it off with someone a lot younger.

Most of the time though, the older person really is being creepy. They're going after, or went after, the much younger person precisely because of their youthful naivety.

It's a tough situation. Not everything that's immoral can or should be illegal. That doesn't make it any less creepy.

I agree. I don’t find it automatically creepy especially if it’s for a short term fling but a girl who hasn’t even kissed a boy marrying a 47 year old man and her parents fully approved is really creepy

There’s almost no chance whatsoever that a middle-aged man actually in a romantic relationship with a woman in her early 20's (or younger) genuinely believes she’s mature or experienced enough to be an equal partner, and that’s probably a huge part of the appeal, whether he admits it or not.

I maintain we are all being silly pretending that 18-year-olds who read Cosmo — or wherever they’re sourcing their aspirational archetypes these days — and put great effort into emulating what our culture tells them is hot, aren’t frequently very good at looking like mature women. Because they aren’t idiots, and men aren’t blind.

But that doesn’t mean we have to fuck them. In fact, 99% of the time, we should probably just avoid involving them in whatever involuntary prurient shit our brains cook up in general. I’m not going to feel guilty about it any more than I feel sexually confused when I see long blond hair, all way down the back of someone with a remarkably shapely ass who— oops. That’s a dude. Huh. Well. Nice ass, dude. Well played. Your brain is going to do what your brain is going to do, and thoughts are not inherently shameful.

Actions are another matter, however, and just because someone catches your eye, that doesn't mean you should be dating them. (The 18-year olds, I mean. Date the surfer dude if you want.) They’re not “kids” anymore, but they are very, very inexperienced adults. And you know damn well you will win every argument you might want to win, hold all the power, and the worst part will be: You will both feel like you’re probably doing a pretty great job being in charge! (Her because how the fuck would she know, and you because it’s weirdly easy to beat yourself at chess.)

In my early 30’s, I went on a great many online dates, with women aged 18-35. I knew it was “frowned upon” (though it wasn’t quite the fever pitch it is now), but it had also been a long time since high school and college for me, and I’m a stubborn contrarian who has to figure shit out for himself sometimes. Because pride. And yeah, they were hot.

So. Any guesses as to what I learned on those few dates that were with 18-22 year olds? Exactly what you probably think. But if you don't know what to think yet, here's the way your date will go:

First of all, you're sitting across the table from a girl whose last boyfriend’s most impressive displays of peacockery were scoring some Boone’s Farm — which he pretended he swung with a fake ID, but really his cousin works at the liquor store, and a remarkably grown-up thing he said once when they were high, about Sherpa exploitation, and how “For them, you know, it’s more like… Mount NEVERest.” Dude got a handjob for that one.

Meanwhile, you can buy any goddamn thing you want from the liquor store without looking at the price tag. Not only that, you just happened to be “in Nepal just last year! Oh wait, that was Ladakh, India. Similar landscape, but there’s really no place like Nepal. Have you been to the Himalayas?” (She has not.)

No worries. You’ll take her there... with a charming anecdote you’ve got queued up, of course! (Don’t look at me like that). One about regional trekking impact regulators having standardized restaurant prices across whole mountain villages in the Northern Mustang Region, to ensure a more egalitarian distribution of tourism revenue, which ends with you embarrassing yourself endearingly by calling your guide out on trying to bullshit you for a kickback, only to realize, to your chagrin: “They really did all have the same menu! Every restaurant in this whole village at the top of the world, which looks authentic, but whose shit is every bit as put together as Disney’s.” Anyway, would she like some more Chianti? (She would.)

Congrats. You’ve impressed someone almost half as much as you’ve impressed yourself. You sure do look cool. Y’know, having done stuff the last couple decades, when she was obviously not going to be doing those things, busy as she was with her crayons, and developing basic object permanence.

I’m still not going to go so far as to say every 18-year old dating a 30-something guy is being victimized, or that he’s definitely a predator. But only because I don't know every single couple like that, and it's important to remember one half of that couple is a woman who might have something to say about your assumptions, and being called a "victim".

I can't speak for her. But as for him: Even if he somehow isn't trying to exploit a major difference in maturity for his own agenda, then I still have no idea how he avoids feeling like a desperate loser, playing on easy mode, doomed to feel bored and unfulfilled.

Because while I can easily imagine loving that girl who is, of course, beautiful and no slouch herself, so what? Love is easy. Or it should be. There are great reasons to love and respect almost anyone. But if they don't also challenge you, and have stories to rival your own, and wisdom to offer in return, you're going to start sidelining them, and leveraging your history unfairly, whether you want to or not.

That wide variety of first dates helped me appreciate that a lot happens from age 18-25, revealing a selfish disincentive I hadn’t even thought to expect, until I was able to extrapolate a few dates into the future, based on those conversations: Loneliness.

I was going to miss being with a woman my own age. Go figure, right? Which is a big part of why I'm certain about the disingenuousness and toxicity of red pillers claiming that it's "normal" and "natural" to pursue women who are so young. Since I have exes and female friends my age, and older, to compare them to, it was obvious pretty quickly to me what I'd be missing out on, and why I'd probably start to resent or take for granted someone so young as a partner.

I understand why this take might seem insufficiently harsh. You want me to say "Those guys are monsters."

But I think, in a way, it's worse than that. To me, the problems became obvious quickly, because I had a basis for comparison. It was like going from playing in the NFL to playing high school football: Plenty to admire, and lots of potential, but after an hour or two, you're going to realize: "I'm going to hurt someone here. And I'm going to be bored." There was no upside. Easy decision.

I don't think red pillers choose not to look at it that way. I think they've convinced themselves that "the NFL" is a full-blown feminist/beta male conspiracy, where the game is rigged against them, and so when someone much younger seems more amenable to their bullshit, and easier to push around, they convince themselves they're not "preying" on those women at all. They think they're playing the only game that's "fair". And since they know exactly how pathetic and fearful that looks, they have an enormous incentive to believe and disseminate all this bullshit about "The Wall" and "Sexual Market Value" and bolster our cultural obsession with equating female youth and fertility with feminine worth, and women's place in the social order.

The wall is a myth. I hope someone debunks this shit. Translated into English: If you follow really good evolutionary psychologists, you will come into contact with accurate data. Women who are attractive in their 20s will also remain attractive in their 30s and have options.
