Can we just be honest with ourselves for a moment and admit to ourselves that whether or not this movement is organized or a naturally occurring phenomenon in western society that it has the effect of a eugenics campaign by getting these easily manipulated mothers out of the gene pool in an indirect way? Like if a movement can’t convince the mom to get her tubes tied but it can convince her that her kids are transgender it has the safe effect in the long run by literally ending that specific lineage. Her genetic lineage ends with a transgender child. Who is going to reproduce with a single mom with a transgender kid?

I hate to be so cold about it because this is so tragic but looking at Americas pre-WW2 history of eugenics (it’s a rabbit hole worth jumping down), this movement strikes me as a possibly (I’m not 100% of anything anymore tbh) an artificially constructed social movement meant to trick people into separating themselves from the gene pool. Why bother going through the effort of building a concentration camp when you can convince people you deem “unfit” to sterilize themselves and still allow them to run around generating tax revenue at the same time? No barbed wire required and they’ll worship you as a hero at the same time.

I’ll take off my tinfoil hat now btw, and I admit that I don’t know for certain if this is truly what is happening in the world, but it strikes me as a greater than 0% possibility.

I know nothing about this specific situation and therefore come at it with a completely open mind. The first consideration concerns the extent to which this guy has "refused to affirm" anything.

For the sake of argument, let's deal with this as a hypothetical. Let's assume that they've had the kid assessed by a qualified gender identity specialist who has (without political influence) expressed the view that the kid might have gender dysphoria. I think that would be fairly rare at that age, but let's assume it's happened. After all, there's research out there which suggests detectable differences in behaviour between young boys and young girls in the first few weeks of life.

If the father said "OK, let's watch what happens here while he gets to be old enough to take a leak unaided and act accordingly," I'd say that's completely reasonable. The dilemma is that gender dysphoria is hard to diagnose especially in very young people, while trans people (and frankly the society around them) get much better results when they get treatment as early as possible, which is where I think most of the controversy on this comes from.

Conversely, if the father has said "I don't care, he's going to grow up to be a straight man and nothing anyone can say will ever change my mind on that," then that could turn out to be a disaster if - hypothetically - the kid does turn out to be trans, gay, bi, or... whatever the kid turns out to be.

The issue for me is that the first of those reactions from the father is reasonable and the second isn't, but both are likely to be considered a terrible crime by the forces of radical, extremist, highly-politicised critical social justice.

This is very much a matter of degree and nuance and therefore we'd need to know a lot of detail about exactly what's happened, particularly in the sense of what they want this father to do that he has refused to do.
