Still holding onto the glimmer of hope that things will get better, I wrote a long letter and shared it recently in our first therapy session. She was shocked to hear how I felt and never really acknowledged my feelings or the letter, in fact, she told her friends about it and told me she felt I put on a play with the therapist. In our next session she just kept asking him for tools to use and felt he wasn't helpful. I told her we needed to bring something in to use and an example and build off it. Well tonight it happened.

Kid (5) wanted a doughnut at 6pm (bed in an hour), didn't need anymore sugar, she gave me looks of oh come on, let the kid have it. The kid started crying and I gave in, she told me I was gaslighting her, she was trying to support me, to which I replied those looks weren't of encouragement. Proceeded to yell, "dad ruined the night, everything was going great, until you pulled this bullshit". I told her the looks made me feel like I was the bad guy, to which she said I can't control your feelings.

The boundaries of yelling, and saying things like that in front of the kid are a thing. She has a terrible temper. I'm sitting here thinking, what should be the consequences of her continuing to ignore the boundary. It's leaving this toxic relationship. I just don't know how I can pull the trigger.

Each time we have an argument or something like this, I'm just ready to pull the plug. I can't stop thinking about it.
