A woman in her early 20s is in my ER after a night of overindulgence. She drinks so much that she is unconscious. She wakes up without shoes or a coat and no recollection of the hotel she was staying at. The " boyfriend" didn't come with her and she can't figure out why. It's mentioned that we could call the guy listed on the chart as next of kin and she breaks down crying. The guy listed as her next of kin is at home looking after their child. She was in town to fuck a guy she met online. After some time it's figured out which hotel she was staying at. She starts whining about how cold she is going to be walking to this hotel without a coat.

The hamsters I work with come to me looking for a taxi chit so the hospital can pick up the tab for a cab ride. I said no. Then they start collecting donations so she can take a taxi.

When asked for a donation, I, in a matter of fact voice say, let her walk or call the guy looking after her kid for a ride. I'm now an asshole for stating that she should take responsibility for her actions and reap the rewards. I make mention that if the genders were reversed and it was a guy looking for taxi money after attempting to fuck around on his baby's mother there would only be disgust for the guy. I even had the nerve to suggest that an anonymous call would have been made to out the guy.

It was the quietest morning at work ever. It was a good day.
