Game can be fun and incredibly rewarding. It may even lead you to meet your future wife.

However, pickup has a dark side that rarely gets discussed within the community.

And if you aren't aware of the potential consequences of learning game, they can seriously impact the quality of your life.

Pickup has high-stakes

Game and sex go hand in hand (if you're any good at it).

Sex, ultimately, is the reproductive act. And there is a serious risk of getting someone pregnant.

You might think it would never happen to you, but I have a close friend who got a very manipulative woman pregnant because she lied about being on birth control.

When a girl says she's on the pill and you're naked with her, it's very easy to neglect using protection.

Beyond that, women will often encourage you not to use a condom, and it's hard to say no because it feels a lot better, and there's a primal part of your brain that wants to get her pregnant.

We all tell ourselves we'd never make the mistake of getting a girl pregnant from a one-night stand or a casual fling, but it happens all the time. And those guys probably thought the same thing.

I know a dude who's dating a girl who emotionally abuses him, has threatened suicide and has tried to get him arrested based on false accusations of assault (she later admitted she was lying).

He doesn't use condoms with her.

She says she's on birth control, but that's not a game of Russian Roulette I'd want to play.

Chances are he's going to get her pregnant eventually. She's already said she would keep the child.

So he's going to have to help raise a kid with a woman who has done horrible things to him, and from then on, he will never be able to completely get rid of her from his life.

The child will also probably be an emotional wreck, and he will have to deal with feeling responsible for that. Getting the wrong girl pregnant is one of the worst things you can do for the trajectory of your life.

It's something that doesn't go away.

I think men who learn pickup should seriously consider getting a vasectomy (they are almost always reversible, and you can freeze some sperm as a backup plan).

Short of that, it's crucial to be aware that having sex with the wrong woman can have permanent consequences. Be careful not to get too drunk because that makes it so much easier to forget to use protection.

Being Good At Game Doesn't Necessarily Mean Your Relationships Will Be Healthy

Pickup can significantly improve your self-esteem. Facing rejection can make you let go of any people-pleasing tendencies you have and teach you to accept yourself on a deeper level.

Furthermore, if you want a girlfriend, you'll be choosing from hundreds of options.

The average guy ends up dating the one girl who likes him from his social circle. He might get one opportunity for a date every six months.

Conversely, if you're doing pickup, you can get several dates a week.

With so many more options, it stands to reason that you'll be more likely to end up in a healthy relationship, right? Unfortunately, it's not that simple.

Being in a healthy relationship has more to do with who you are than finding the right girl.

If you have negative beliefs about yourself and/or women, any quality girl you meet will quickly be turned off.

I know a guy who pulls a lot of women, but almost all of them are either strippers or former hookers. And he meets these girls in clubs where those are not the most common professions - but that's what he resonates with.

I've had multiple friends who were hooking up with quite a few women, but when they finally settled down, they made the worst possible choice.

Everyone around them was baffled. Clearly, his relationship was toxic. But he had no idea.

This happens because most men choose relationships based on emotions more than logic (despite what we want to believe).

And if you're dating a lot of women, the ones that will give you the strongest high are the ones who have personality disorders or other serious emotional problems.

These girls are master manipulators: they make you feel like a god. And then pull the rug from under you, which makes you willing to do anything to get those previous feelings she gave you back.

And this pattern repeats itself until you're essentially the woman's slave.

If you have a high self-esteem and a healthy belief system about what a relationship should be, then these women won't get to you.

However, that's rare. Society doesn't teach that. And for the most part, pickup doesn't teach that either.

There are many examples of famous pickup coaches getting into extremely toxic relationships (Mystery and Owen Cook, to name a couple).

It's crucial to understand that women have game, too. But their game isn't about getting laid; it's about locking a guy down.

So even if you're convinced that you just want to have casual relationships, you may meet a girl who convinces you to settle down with her by putting you through an emotional roller coaster and making you dependent on her. Ironically, this mirrors the manipulative side of pickup teachings.

But it goes both ways.

Whenever a friend of mine says, "I'm never getting into a relationship again, I'm just going to hook up with girls." Then I know he will be in a relationship within a month.

And chances are, it'll be a toxic one because when you're meeting a lot of women, the ones with the best game are those who are most manipulative.

The cool girls you meet aren't going to try to trick you into a relationship you don't want. But the ones with NPD or BPD are ruthless.

Beyond that, many of the most manipulative women know how to hide their dark side with a veneer of feminine charm.

These women also know how to get to your ego, and when you're being built up to feel like a king, it's easy to be ignorant to the big picture of what she's doing to you.

By the way, I'm not saying there aren't great women who you can have a healthy relationship with out there. Of course there are, but learning game doesn't automatically mean you're going to find one.

If anything, it can have the opposite effect because a big reason men learn game is to get 'hotter girls.' They want the sense of accomplishment that comes from pulling a '10'.

When a guy like that does hook up with a girl who's hotter than what he's used to, he becomes especially vulnerable to getting caught up in a relationship with her even if they're a terrible match. His pride gets in the way of his reasoning (but she's so hot).

Pickup can be a path to finding a healthy relationship, but you must be aware of the traps that we can fall into.

Being able to pull a lot of women doesn't mean you're going to choose the right one.

Conclusion

Game has many benefits:

  • It's fun.
  • You can meet amazing women.
  • You can create memories that will last your entire life.
  • It can improve your self-esteem.
  • You can learn to be more charismatic.
  • It can help you eliminate negative beliefs you have.
  • You can meet new male friends through it.
  • It forces you to drop some of the toxic parts of your ego

And I could go on.

But there's also a dark side, and ignoring it can change the entire trajectory of your life.

Game being high stakes makes it exciting. However, it also makes game risky.

Be aware that many men do get the wrong woman pregnant, and a lot of guys who are determined to stay single and have fun end up getting gamed into a toxic relationship.

Then, five years later, they say, "Wow, what was I thinking. She almost ruined my life."

Don't assume that you are immune to making these mistakes; everyone thinks that until it's too late.

Pickup can enrich your life; just remain cognizant that if you're not careful, it can also harm you.
