Here's the difference.

The good guy is nice for the sake of being good. Being good is his principle.

The nice guy is nice as a means to a goal. He doesn't really care about principles, he only cares about an outcome.

You can be alpha as fuck and still be a good person. The alpha, however, is not a pushover and is not desperate.

Also, and I've said this here before: be a nice guy cause you're a decent human being, but don't use it as a sexual strategy. Unless you want to fail.

The word is wrong. it should be "desperate".

The most offputing beta behavior is to be weak + desperate.

If you are strong/valuable, you are often forgiven for acting desperate.

If you act/fake being nondesperate, it will be often assumed, that you are valuable.

A strong+nondesperate guy can do nice things, which would hurt the prospect of some other low value guy. The low value guy is trying to buy affection with gifts, but the alpha doesn't need to. In other words, women want the alpha to be nice to them, but being nice won't make you an alpha.

It's tricky because by being a nice guy you are signalling that you are a beta. The reason jerks/assholes get the girls is NOT because they are jerks/assholes but because they are signalling alpha traits.

There is a fine line you can walk, so it is possible IF you can be "nice" whatever that means to you without:

any hint of supplication
any hint of desperation
any hint that you are treating her special

How about you be the best possible version of what you are? Are you a nice guy? Awesome, its possible to both be assertive and incredibly warm and welcoming. No man should tell you what you should be. We are all here to perfect ourselves, not perfect somebody else's self.

For me, it's like this: I keep a positive 'frame'. I smile. Showing teeth is what alpha male species do in the wild. There's something primal going on when people see you smiling, laughing, displaying comfort in your environment, etc with other people in the room. Am I a nice guy? Not so much as I am a fun guy. 'Nice' is complimenting a woman on her shoes. 'Fun' is making jokes about her shoes while she tries to justify why she bought them in the first place. Don't get me wrong- most people would say I'm nice: but that's because I usually have a conversation with them where we're laughing, giving each other shit.. at least on my end.

TRP and alpha behavior is not about being a total dick. It's about being assertive and sure of yourself. You can still be altruistic and generous to others while maintaining that.

The "nice guy" frame that's laughed at here is the idea of doing nice/apparently altruistic things with a motive that people are too weak minded/unassertive to actually bring up. EG buying a girl's dinner with the expectation that she'll go out with the guy again.

Just know whom you should be generous/nice towards, and who doesn't deserve that.

My opinion is to be neither the nice guy or the bad boy, at the end of the day both of these are just acts. When people say just be yourself, what they really mean it don't be a pushover, don't take bullshit, but generally you be polite around others. Being nice is worlds different than being polite. Trust me, putting up the nice guy act is pretty tiring and almost always leaves you as an orbiter/friend zone.

Yes, it is. A nice guy will trully be dominant for a woman. That is what she wants. In reality you are being mean if you suck up to her and kiss her ass. Tolerate them, call them out on there bs, tease them. Treat them like any decent human being should. If you are to much of a asshole you probably won't get a lot of chicks. True alphas aren't assholes. They just go after what they want domianantly. Be to much of a asshole and you mighy not.like yourself

Actually, in one of his recent podcast, a friend of his did notice that Joe was Alpha without being an asshole, which was unusual. The discussion went that a lot of Alpha posturing comes from a place of insecurity, instead of a place of strength.

It's the difference between a sociopath acting from pain and abuse, and a decent person with strong boundaries. Neither of them is taking shit from anyone, and both do what they want and follow their mission, but one is out to get revenge on an uncaring world, while the other simply sees through the bullshit with the compassion born from realizing he has the same human foibles as everyone.

One is nihilistic, the other compassionate. Of course, compassion doesn't exclude a little tough love when necessary. It's the difference between a good father and an uncaring one.

Oh yes, god damn and how it's possible. I'm trying to get rid of it for a while now. There are plenty of contexts where I am easily the best man in the room (and the guys accept that) but I'm still holding a nice guy frame. I'm not even white knighting, it's just that I was taught from a young age to be polite and be a good listener. So if somebody starts talking, I look towards them and shut up - and a million other verbal and non-verbal cues of weakness.

I'm also INTJ, which means I tend to pay attention to the issue discussed first, and to the context second.

eh ! who cares about nice guy? We all pay for sex in the end. One way or another. Mind as well just negotiate terms up front rather than hand over a blank check in the end as you may well find out at /r/killmarriage . Save yourself all the the work out routines, fancy cars, and all that "look at me" I'm the alpha male crap. Though I do hear 80% of the chicks are making it with 20% of the men out there, I do suppose the alpha male is getting lucky.

If you ever become a colosal muscle beast like me people are obviously going to be scared of you. At fitst its kinda cool. But after a while its realy frustrating to see women cower in fear as you reach over to get some milk at tbw super market. Thats when you deliberately start acting like a nice guy so you can have semi normal human interactions
