You don't have to be the life of the party. You just have to be more interesting and more fun than the average guy in the room. Being better than half the guys in the room is not a very high standard. But that means people will welcome your presence far more than the guys who will make a bad impression (if they even approach at all).

If there is a guy captivating everyone's attention, you can be a supporting character in his theatrical production to great effect. Spur on his great stories. Encourage him. Slap him on the back and be his best friend. He will elevate you with him.

If no single person is captivating everyone's attention, then you don't have to, either. You just have to be the more captivating thing happening to the one, or more, people you're talking to right then, right there. All you're doing is creating small and wonderful experiences for people.

There's the life of the party guy on one side of the room, entertaining everybody with his jokes and stories... and then there is the cool, confident, doesn't give a fuck what other people think guy on the other side of the room. Both can get laid. While Entertaining Guy is putting on a show, Cool Confident guy can approach any girl in the room, introduce himself, engage in interesting conversation, kino, tease, build comfort and rapport, escalate, and bounce the girl back to his place before Entertaining Guy is done performing his juggling act.

Disclaimer: Entertaining Guy will probably get laid too. Choose whatever style works for you.

Being the most captivating guy in the group is all you need. You don't need to capture everyone's attention, just the people you are interested.

When I am in full-on party mode, I have a great time but I get distracted and I don't tend to do much seduction.

When I am just feeling happy and social is when I have the most success.

A lot is going to depend on venue. In a high energy environment like a club, you will do worse than the extrovert guy being the life of the party. You want to focus on venues where you can capture the girls attention through conversation. Isolating her for one on one time is one of the most important steps for guys like us that have trouble being the center of attention for a room or group.

First off... That's a self limiting belief. You CAN be the life of the party if you wanted to be. However, it's different if you don't WANT to be. Don't want to be? That's fine... In RSD they talk about the searing fire (life of the party, etc) vs the burning hot coal. You can still be captivating and fun without having all the attention on yourself. Just make your conversations interesting and make sure that YOU are having fun.
