You ran into a celebrity on the street as she rushed along with her head down, obviously hoping she would not be recognized and pestered by strangers. Then you stalked her and pestered her for a picture. And then you didn't even get the picture, she blew you off as nicely as she could. You didn't penetrate her frame at all.

I worked with a lot of celebrities when I worked in Hollywood and they all said the same thing annoyed them more than any other aspect of celebrity. It's when strangers think they are familiar with them since they've seen them on TV and movies, and read about them in magazines. So these strangers feel like they're entitled to approach these celebrities as if they are already friends. They have been approached like this tens of thousands of times, to the point where they may even become recluses and hide from the public to avoid the constant approaches.

So don't do that again. Please.

I feel like you shouldn't have asked for the photo. I always feel like if you run into someone who is famous and you obviously aren't going to start a long conversation where you stop walking or whatever, and you realllly want to let them know you acknowledge their existence, make a brief comment, make eye contact, smile and keep walking. If they didn't want to be known then they wouldn't have reached stardom. However, they don't want to be bothered, either.

I think a simple "Hi, Hermione" in a friendly and non-threatening way would have sufficed.

yea, i agree with psykocrime. turn this into a dhv story later. come up with something a bit more high value (who's going to know what really happened... ;-p ). but just the fact that u were different than the crazy fans that would approach her probably stuck in her memory for a bit longer than normal. lol
