I have long thought that Phil Conners at the end of the movie was a good example of the kind of life I would want to live -- Renaissance Man of sorts. As I've become more familiar with PUA concepts, I also thought that Phil at the end exemplifies what an ideal PUA should look like. Complete social proof and social grace, as well as DHVs galore. He might not have the smoothest routines (can't tell one way or the other), but he did have complete inner game. No neediness at all, since he had already given up on trying to "win" the woman. He was just living the life he wanted to live, and she was welcome to accompany him if she wanted. He even impressed Rita earlier that same "day" with his speech, then told her he needed a raincheck when she asked for a date. He wasn't too available.

By the way, his attempts earlier in the movie to woo Rita give several examples of good and bad game. At one point, for example, he invites her to come in to his room. She says, "I don't think I should." His reply: "I don't think you should, either. That's why I'll just show you this one thing and kick you out." Textbook response.

Later, he is kissing her, and she says, "I don't know. I don't think we should do this." He says, "I don't, either," then kisses her some more. She then gives more resistance, which he can't overcome. He makes the mistake of having all pull and no push, making her do all the pushing.

The whole point is you have to go through the previous 10 years or however long to get there, though. And, in real life, you age and possibly die or get thrown in jail in the process.

The problem with this theory is that he is really trying hard to woo her. He didn't learn piano, ice sculpting, languages, or any of that other stuff to better himself and make the world a better place. He did it to pick up one chick. This is a big DLV in my opinion.

I understand that learning all of these things would work, but to be truly alpha is to learn all of this for yourself and just let the women come to you.
