So I've had an interesting night, and I feel like I've seen the Matrix of holding one's frame in the direst of circumstances.

I'm back in my hometown for Spring Break, and I felt like going out to the bars. After a thirty minute search for a bar that was open past 10 (damn they close early around here!) I ended up finding one, posting up, and listening to some good music with a nice cold beer. Not really out to sarge, just have a good time.

A couple girls walk up to the bar next to me, one fairly good looking, and the other one HUGE. I make conversation with them, teasing them about taking tequila shots. (Apparently, it's the ONLY good drink.) They finish up, the cute one says bye and the other sorta just doesn't acknowledge me. Cool.

I continue to drink my beer for a few minutes, and then... sploosh.

Ice and water is dripping down my head. Huh. That doesn't usually happen at the bars. I look over to my right and there's a fairly cute girl GLARING at me.

.

Me: Is that how you say 'hello?'

Her: Don't play cute with me. What the fuck are you doing here talking shit about my sister?

Uh, what?

Me: I don't know your sister. So have I offended you or something? Why are you so mad?

Her: Don't think that you can just ignore someone like you think you're better than them!

Me: You aren't making any sense. Walk away, count to ten, and come back when you feel like acting like an adult.

.

I turned my back on her. There were some people at the bar staring at me, so I shrugged, made an "I don't know what the fuck" face, laughed, and took a drink of my beer. Drinks-pouring girl yaks to her friends behind me about something or other I did. Whatever. At this point I was shaking with nervousness, because although I had a calm face on, I was honestly freaking out. It went away after a second, though. I turned back around.

.

Me: So, let's slow down, and explain to me why you felt it necessary to pour a drink on my head. (smiling)

Her: Well, evidently you really upset her in high school or something! Obviously she remembers you!

Me: Obviously. Let me ask you a question: where are you from? Here?

Her: None of your business.

Me: But not from this town, right?

Her: Yeah.

Me: When you come back, you really only hang out with your good friends, right?

Her: Yeah.

Me: Me too. Everyone I knew in high school that I don't hang out with anymore has kinda faded into the background. Do you feel that whatever I did warranted having a drink poured on my head?

Her: embarassed now No, I'm sorry, our whole family is a bunch of bitches. Listen, you seem pretty cool, so I just...

Me: It's whatever. Now I'll give you it's your sister, and you may have been upset, so I'll only make you apologize for half the ice, and none of the drink, haha! Is that fair enough?

Her: No, I'll apologize for the whole thing.

Me: I'm listening.

Her: I'm sorry I poured a drink on your head.

Me: Good. We're cool then. (I should have made her buy me a drink.)

.

At this point, her sister walks up. Long story short, she raises hell about how I insulted her in high school, and how I was a loser, and basically I just gave her the poker face. I was surprised to find that I was in the middle of a whole scene at this bar, and I legitimately didn't give a shit. I cast a sidelong glance at her sister, whose eyes are the size of dinner plates in embarassment and is just giving me "I'm so sorry" looks. At this point, the fat girl slaps the fuck out of me and storms off. I turn back to her sister.

.

Me: Maybe that'll make her feel better.

Her: Oh my god, I'm SO sorry.

Me: Nah, it's cool. Everyone has that one grudge they never quite get over.

Her: Yeah. I think we'd better leave. I hope your night gets better.

Me: It's all good. Have a good night.

.

For the rest of the night, people were approaching me, astonished that I didn't get mad or embarrassed by a drink being poured on my head. Ended up flirting with several cute girls, although nothing really came of it.

The takeaway from this for me is that I can truly be confident in myself under any circumstances now. Nothing will ever be as bad as a completely random drink poured on my head, by some random cute girl, angry as fuck, yelling at me in the middle of a crowded bar filled with her friends. My frame is ROCK-SOLID.
