I wouldn't necessarily neg her.

Girl says to me: I'm unique.

I say to girl with a slight snicker, "What makes you think you are unique?"

She then starts qualifying herself to you. You tease her about it later whatever quality she says.

Fishing for compliments is a sign of insecurities. You don't want to further vex her by exposing her insecurities more.

I totally stonewall, basically. For example, a hot girl (who seemed to have self-esteem issues) did her makeup and she's like "does it look good?" I said "it looks fine, i'm no expert" or something like that. That's an example.

That is the PUA answer, but honestly you need to look deeper. Did she say that because she has low self esteem and is looking for validation from you? Is she wondering if you are really interested in her and is fishing to learn your feelings for her? Did she say it to test you to see if you are low value and will supplicate to her? Each one of those should take a different response, possibly by just ignoring what she said altogether.

I've found that some girls wont react well at all to 'jokes' or negging to do with discussion about personality traits, even if they're normally cool. So from what i can tell from experience...if she's telling you that she's unique (for example), it's possibly a sore point for her, i.e. that she thinks she isn't unique and is trying to get affirmation, and it's not something you'd want to prod. Some of the time anyway.

Having said that, it's fucking annoying when somebody is clearly fishing for compliments. I just tell them to stop fishing, it kind of implies that you do think the thing she said is true, but at the same time you aren't taking bullshit or being an ass-licker.

Read her palm. Palm reading is easy and fun, and it a great opportunity to hold hands and otherwise escalate physically.

Also she's probably not so much fishing for compliments as just wanting to talk about herself so make sure you throw in a lot of cold reading mumbo jumbo.
