Brother, this is you trying to rationalize yourself into not approaching.

I'm going to throw this at you from two perspectives. Hopefully one or both will help you.

Approaches are happening all around you, you just don't witness the moment.

The people walking alone, by themselves, in the typical fog of their life? They just left from a spontaneous approach. Or they get approached minutes after they walk past you by some other dude. That was an opportunity of your life you could have gripped by the horns, but just tossed to someone else to grab. Your inaction motivates others to take action. Thus if other people are not acting, make your move!

The people walking together? The dude and the girl walking hand in hand? What if I told you they didn't know each-other until 5 minutes ago? Whose to say they have known each other all this time? Maybe they just had a spontaneous approach you didn't witness but your perception was that they were close prior? I just wrote a field report the other day about how I cold approached a girl and we were holding hands nearly 3 minutes later. (Here) Everybody that saw us would've surely thought we were dating when in reality we were complete strangers.

Perhaps this is much less likely than perspective 2 I'm about to drop, but I'm providing it in case you want to start justifying in your head an "everybody is doing it" mentality to help you get started. Moving beyond that though?

Approaches aren't happening, which means you being the lone soul doing approaches separates you from the pack of zombies going about life normally while opportunities slip through their fingers.

If nobody else is approaching, that means there's tons of opportunities to prove yourself. It shows your balls, your confidence, and gives you more opportunities than everybody else who is too frightened to even consider such a bold move.

To paraphrase Michael_Cassio, BE the exception to the rule, and create these moments instead of waiting for others to create it for you. Be the first one to jump in the freezing cold pool. Be the first one on the dance floor making a fool out of yourself but having the time of your life.

This is your life brother, you're living it and you're controlling it. This is it right here. Get out there and be the hero these zombies need!

On a related note, has anyone ever met another PUA while trying to meet strangers? I picture it happening like the "there's chocolate on my peanut butter..." commercial, both parties trying to compliment the other on their books or sweaters or whatever.

... The actual meeting happens so fast that you won't see it most of the time. After that for you they are "with someone they know".

I once was in a disco with a girl friend of mine and while she was standing right beside me I met a girl and started dancing with her. My friend later told me that she was astonished how that happened. For her it was like in one moment I was alone and in the next I was with a girl.

The 'people that you see with other people'... how do you know how long they've known eachother? For all you know they've just met. The people who are best with meeting new people/talking to girls are the ones that talk to people like they've know them forever. I've seen some of my friends go to clubs, dance with girls, kisses and affectionate hugs when they leave and I ask "do you know her from class or something?" and they always reply "nope, just met her five minutes ago"
