There Is No Such Thing As A Bar Girl

An older blog post, but I thought it was interesting, and wanted to hear opinions about it. Especially what the post ended with:

Only suckers throw away their time and money chasing the elusive “quality girl” through events, classes, or expensive but socially approved status- whoring hobbies. Bars are free.

I think he makes a good point about the way bars sort of filter women out: You'll find more confident and extroverted women at bars.

I think it also depends on the bar you go to though. Small town bars might have lower quality girls than more upscale bars, and the latter are nicer to go to anyway.

I think the old stereotype about "bar girls" has kept me away from bars for far too long, so I'm just starting to get over my inhibition about them.

BTW, is there any conceivable difference between a bar and a tavern? Stupid question, I know, but maybe there's some difference that I'm missing.

The author of this article seems to equate "bar girls" with girls who go to the bar.

Although I agree that women who go to bars are the same people who you talk to on the street or elsewhere, I do not agree that they fall under the "bar girls" category.

Much like men who go to bars are not all "jocks" and "bros"; women who go to bars are not all "bar girls".

To take the author's personal experience as a sufficient sample size is ridiculous. To take his "estimated" IQs as anything other than padding for his purposes is also ridiculous. I feel that too many assumptions have been made in both of these statements. Additionally his assumption that the "bars suck" meme is propagated by "Attractive girls who are in happy, committed relationships" falls heavily into question.

I suppose in conclusion, his original statement "There is no such thing as a Bar Girl", I believe, is wrong. His assertion that there are intelligent women who go to bars is inherently correct; this has always been the case. He makes no new addition to what we knew before.

Also, bars are not free.

Obnoxious post. Since when do any of the things the author mentioned have to do with quality of dating material or sexual promiscuity? I stopped reading after she listed the IQs of the girls she surveyed at a bar.

Classic Roissy/Heartiste. This is one of my favorite articles of his and I completely agree. The women you meet at the bar who people would deem to be a bar slut/skank/low quality, are really the same women you meet anywhere else in your day to day life. All that's changed is how they present themselves to the world and the venue in which you encounter them at. The problem is that women at a bar are typically drunk, over-stimulated, and have grossly inflated egos that sours their personality. Take all that away and they're relatively normal, aka your average run of the mill women you meet day to day.

So what kind of bar was it? That's quite vague, there's plenty of kind of bars which have specific demographics. I can go to a microbrewery and of course the level of education will be higher than in a nightclub.

When people complain about the typical "bar girl" they mostly talk about nightclubs.
