“I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” -Bruce Lee
Professional baseball players don't just watch someone swing a bat and then land a spot on a team. Professional dancers don't just watch someone else do it a couple times then try out for Danging With the Stars. If it were possible to learn to swing a bat or perform a dance perfectly just by watching someone else do it, we'd all be professional athletes and dancers. No, all the greatest professionals practice the same motions over and over and over again. How many times do you think Tiger Woods swung a golf club before he became a pro? A thousand? A million? Ten million times? They're doing more than just improving their technique. They're building circuits in their neuromuscular system that enable them to perform complex motions without very little concentration. Their bodies are physically different from yours and mine as a result of repetition.
Your brain is a muscle and it works just like any other. It will tend to do what it's always done, because it contains well-established neural pathways that enable it to do things it's done repeatedly without having to think about all the little steps that compose them. That's why if you want to get good at talking to people, you have to do it repeatedly. As you do, your brain will literally grow neurons that will make it easier to do every time you try it.
Let's say you decided to improve your ability to swing a bat. You'd go to the nearest batting cages and start swinging. If you missed the first pitch, would you give up and go home? Would you consult an online forum of experts and ask them how you should have swung differently? Of course not! You'd keep your eye on the pitching machine and get ready to swing at the next one.
So if you're having trouble talking to women, don't worry about it. Don't expect yourself to be perfect right away. Don't start thinking there's something wrong with you that prevents women from liking you. There's nothing wrong with you. All you need is more practice.
