I was reading through the post that asked if there was a subreddit female equivalent to SEDDIT. There were quite a few comments in there about boobs and gym and looking good being the only things women need to seduce a man. If I may be frank, I'm a very discerning male when it comes to my choice in women. True, I like boobs, and girls in yoga pants definitely stand a good chance with me, but at 29 years old my days of playing the pick-up game are getting a bit old. I want more than to just convince a girl to fuck me a few times only to eventually part ways.

That being said, my pickiness with women means that a woman has to impress me just as much as I would have to impress her. If she's super hot, has a great smile, but can't carry on a conversation for more than a few minutes, then I'm sorry but boobs/hotness are void (she can find another dude who wants that). If a girl wants some advice on how to pickup a guy who looks beyond the typical standards, here's a quick list:

  • Smile wide, look me in the eyes, and ask me a good question, then follow up with another. That's the basis for conversation, and it shows me that you are interested in hearing something about me.
  • Be clear that you are interested in me. In a group of people, try to find a way to isolate me from the rest. If I'm responsive, this shouldn't be harder than walking up to me and talking to me at a close distance with your back sightly turned to anyone else. This indicates to others your intentions, as well as to me.
  • Don't wait for me to ask you out. This is essential: do not think that because I haven't asked you out that I'm not interested. Girls have to learn how to ask men out, because sometimes I just don't want to make the effort despite being interested. I will almost never say no or dodge a request to hang out, but I won't ever go out with someone unless they ask. Also, when you ask, set a date immediately, if you say 'we should hang out sometime,' and not follow up with a precise date and activity suggestion, I'll assume you're just talking shit. If I'm interested, I'll probably initiate the date and time myself upon your suggestion.
  • Flirt lightheartedly, don't attempt to impress me with your most impressive accomplishments and achievements. This is advice for both genders, don't stand out by bragging, but by using your charm and personality. I'll be more attracted to a nice girl who can make me laugh and who will laugh at my jokes than to someone who goes on about being a doctor and who climbed mount Kilimanjaro. If you did those things, save them for the first/second/third date, impress me with your layers and depth over time, don't try to overwhelm me.
  • Have hobbies that you care about, be passionate and unashamed of what you do. I'd be more interested in someone who has an affinity for Magic the Gathering than someone who has no interests whatsoever. I like a girl who can teach and show me the awesomeness in the things she loves. (btw, this wasn't a slight against Magic! Paper RPGs are awesome.)
  • Don't try too hard, if I'm not interested right away it doesn't mean that I won't be with a bit of time. Sometimes I'm playing it cool and don't want to show too much interest, I don't want to seem needy or overly aggressive either!
  • Don't get friendzoned. I've had to friendzone a 19 year old who started flirting with me at the gym. 10 years difference between her and I, she's hot, tempting, and I'd do terrible/wonderful things to her. But deep down I know it's wrong, so while she continues to try and seduce me I continue to keep her at a friendly distance. I've done everything but straight out tell her to back down, because frankly she's a nice girl and I enjoy her company. Don't be that girl, realize when you need to walk away and/or alter your attraction to a person to suit the situation. edit for clarity: It's not necessarily about an age difference, lots of older men happily date younger women. It's more about experience and maturity, he has to be able to take you seriously. He doesn't care about high-school gossip or first world problems, he wants a capable, thoughtful, positive woman. Not someone who is self-centered, quick to anger or take offense, or who doesn't know how to properly communicate as a couple.

Sorry if this all seems a bit over-done or egotistical on my behalf, I assure you it's not meant to be. All I'm trying to do is offer a bit of insight into how I think when approached by females.
