I'm a firm believer that environment plays a major role in childhood development. I'm the only boy and youngest with three older sisters. By the time I was eight all of my sisters were out of the house and off to college. My parents worked long hours so video games and television were my company. This I found made me shy but I was still able to make friends in school. I've learned nothing about talking to women which made me even more shy and anxious whenever I talked to a girl. Ill attribute seddit for everything I know and help developing my alpha mindset up until last year before I turned 21 did I lose virginity and found my first girlfriend whom I am still with

Oldest of five here, all boys. I seem to have no problem taking charge or leading. It seems to be especially easy with people that are a year or so younger than me, but that may just be because I'm only 18.

I have a similar theory about guys who grew up with a sister around their age having an easier time approaching women and talking to them like they would any of their guy friends.

I'm an only child, though most people are surprised by this fact. They say I don't "act like an only child". Whatever that means. Anyway, I have only ever viewed it as having a positive effect on me. I did spend a lot of time on my own growing up, but I had friends, too. I just think it made me comfortable doing things alone and being independent.

Im the youngest of two brothers, im 20 while they are 23 and 26. 23 year old is autistic (hes functions like a 2 year old, very sad) the other one is a successfull uni student but has some anxiety problems. My dad and I were always abit distant, but he loves me and the feeling is mutual. He pushed me hard in school starting at a very young age, which ruined my confidence. This led me to start smoking weed at 14. I was scared of him abit. I had very few friends. I was "that guy". The guy that never had much to say. The guy who always showed up and did the bare minimum.

All that is past me now. Why should I continue to wallow in self pity?

I am a college dropout, but have started to pursue several different hobbies and apparently I have the most potential in the family. Hmm

Oldest of two boys, were almost the same age. No close female relatives. Went to an all boys high school. Before college and discovering this subreddit, girls were fucking scary.

3rd child of seven, one very passive older brother and 5 sisters. I've always had an easy time talking to girls, but always as a friend. Making the transition to a sexual option has been a challenge hah. But, I thrive in chaos and take lead in groups easy. Shit, I feel more comfortable in chaos.

I'm the baby. It's definitely been an upward battle due to my allowing everyone to walk on me because it was easier than standing up. I think you may be on to something there.

oldest with two younger sisters. when i was younger i was super shy. Didnt want to talk to anybody and only through luck did i manage to get friends in elementary and high school. When i turned 17 my new job kind of got me out of my shell and over the last couple years i realized how great having sisters is. Since having sisters i know exactly how to rile girls up and stuff which has giving me natural game as it would be. Since i always tease my sisters this has transitioned with other girls. i Definitely think it helps to have sisters and gives you a sort of natural game since you know exactly how to neg girls without realizing it. I also do not like leading groups. I can do it and when needed to i take charge a lot of situations. I do not enjoy it but i am good at it. So I don't think having siblings will not make you shy but it will probably help on a larger scale.

I'm the youngest of 3 brothers, I'm 21, they're 24 and 26. Even though I grew up as the odd one out (closer in age, I went to a different high school as them, they started working earlier, played different sports than me), I was pushed just as hard as they were and because I was never in charge at home or as a young kid, I feel like I developed leadership skills quickly in high school and college when I finally worked on more than just being the "smart kid" and worked out, played sports, developed hobbies, joined a fraternity, etc. Lost my virginity at 16, definitely not the lothario that my middle brother is/was (he has a gf now), but also nothing to be ashamed of through college.

TL;DR Youngest of 3 brothers, took charge outside of home since I couldn't at home, still got laid.

i'm an only child. well, only technically, because my older brother committed suicide when i was 10. i think you are correct. in the household, i never had any reason to take charge or develop leadership skills. i was the kid, and that was it. having sisters and older brothers probably would have made me into a different person.

There are scientific studies, books, articles about being first born, youngest, and middle child; they are all just one google search away; but beware since they are just broad guidelines with a huge margin of error.

If you want to see something more precise and interesting, check your personality profile (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers-Briggs_Type_Indicator) and see what other types are compatible with you. To me it's very interesting and as a INFJ gets pretty accurate for both my personality and whom I am attracted to.

For some people doesn't work, and that's OK too.

FYI: I have a sister who is 3 years older. I was very shy and very AFC. I overcame being shy (for the most part) and I am no longer an AFC, but it took years of practice, work, reading, studying, failing....
