If you wanted to see her again you should have made plans for a second date with her, either before or after the hug, and then make eye contact + smile as you part ways.

I don't think it's as big of a deal as a lot of people are making it seem - I think it has more to do with how it felt, whether it was comfortable or not.

A close friend of mine, a "natural," as some would put it, once went 4 or 5 dates without kissing a girl, and she wound up being his girlfriend for a long time, and she was amazingly attracted to him.

If it didn't feel right FOR YOU, then that's all that matters. Do it when YOU feel comfortable, just don't shy away when the moment comes. If you didn't feel comfortable doing it, then chances are she wouldn't have, either.

Look it from her point of view, you did not show attraction to her, trough kino or other means, turning a date-date into a friendly date, that messes with her head, she could feel you did not wanted her, and she was to afraid/shy to make a move herself doe most likely to fear of rejection.

Now if you brake enough rapport and at least a little kino with a girl, this quote applies to all cases "A girl can forgive you for been to forward and going for the kiss/make-out/sex, but she will never forgets if you shy away and don't make a move, because you will be a chump in her eyes"

My friend said this was a weird way to leave it, and I think he has a point.

First off, was your friend there? Because otherwise, without having direct observation of her reaction, he'd have no way of knowing for certain what HER reaction was to what you said.

It could very well be that she was preoccupied with insecurity of her own and/or didn't feel weird about what you said, at all.

If you kino'ed, that would show intention..... and if you had to rush to work, she knows your mind was focused on something important.

Did you get the second date scheduled?

Also, are you aware of why you want to see her again? EDIT: You should be clear in your own mind about what you want here and why you want it.
