I've just started doing this but number one is GET UP if you're sitting down. Then if they have a jukebox pick out something you want to hear. get interactive with the environment, basically. Become part of the bar instead of just in it. Something that's served me well is, "Don't be afraid to make a damn fool out of yourself." You shouldn't actively try to be weird, but do whatever it takes to start enjoying yourself, even if it's a freaking cartwheel.

I also rub my face with my hands like I'm waking up. It helps give me a circulation boost.

Stand up, remember to become outcome independent. Go up to the first set I see and say whatever's on my mind.

These days what comes out is "hi, I have nothing to say, but I came over to say hi."

Usually there's a positive response, because I'm being damn authentic. Right there I'm feeling vulnerable, and I'm displaying it. I know after a few of these (heck just that conversation itself), I'll feel good and start being able to shoot the shit.

Get out of your head; shift your focus to the here and now: what's going on around you RIGHT at that moment. And then immediately connect with someone around you: highfive a random bro (as was mentioned), cheers someone around you, say hello to anyone. They could be a guy or a girl, it really doesn't matter for the purposes of getting back into State.

Approach and say: I wanna marry you! If they look weird, laugh and enjoy the weird response, then walk away or retry. If they respond nice...u did a opener and keep talking ;) You can do Kino etc if u like by taking her hand.
