This is nothing to worry about. Sometimes it's even kind of a good thing to forget her name, especially if she's attractive. It's kind of like a subtle neg.

Wouldn't even consider this a problem or try to have any "special" solution.

Forgetting a name should be a 5 sec interaction that is quickly forgotten. Be escalating, be leading the interaction. Focus on the escalating and not silly games to play

Just tell her you forgot your name. So many people who come here are over-thinking shit way too much. You don't need a smooth, clever line or a the "perfect neg" for every situation. Just be in the moment and honest. What you say when you meet a girl for the first time literally does not matter at all. Who remembers the first conversation they ever had with a person? No one. It's more important to approach confidently and be fun.

Unless you're in a loud bar, the idea is to not forget in the first place. As David Wygant put it, if you can't remember her name, you're not paying attention and the fine important interactions will slip through the cracks. To not forget the name, say it out loud. Not mentally. Say it out loud. "John. It's nice to meet you John." If it's a foreign name I feel more awkward to repeat it because I bomb it every time and I end up forgetting it. :/

But that doesn't address the point for when it does happen. To answer your question, don't stress it. It's not a big deal if you forget, but it's a bit of a plus if you remember.

Me: I'm sorry, I meant to ask for your full name so I can put your number in my phone

Begin to pull out your phone and write her name in as you say the last line. It works very often.

but no. Really, don't do that. Usually I'll try to introduce them to someone, anyone, so i can get her name again. I once actually hooked up with a girl (who lived alone, this is crucial) and got her name from a prescription in the bathroom.

I recall reading a good piece of advice somewhere:

At a reasonable and relevant point in the conversation (don't just come out of left field, interrupting her), say something to the effect of:

"What was your name again?" She will give you her first name. "Ah, I meant your *last* name."

Now, this isn't by any stretch perfect, but neither is the situation. Last names are essential for Facebook and the likes, if that's your thing, but, yes, it could be awkward if you make it that way. Also might be bad if you're into the whole not-knowing-her-name kind of thing.

I actually deal with this a lot, and my favorite little gambit this far is a ski g her, "Hey, do you remember my name?"

If the reply is no, then I say "Well than we're both real assholes, mine's ----, what's yours again?"

If she actually does, I normally go 1 of 2 routes. If she's putting out lots of IOI's then I'll say something like, "Well I totally forgot your name, but I just want to call you gorgeous! ...But seriously what was your real name again?"(Cheesy, but actually have moderate success... after all, you can word it however you want so long as she's attracted to you) If not so many IOIs, "Well, I'm a dick them because I totally forgot yours! What was it?"

With the gorgeous bit, if I forget yet again or something, I make the name gorgeous a thing and just call her that.

Just wanted to chime in here. I always rhyme the girls name with something obvious about her in my mind. Works like a charm.
