That is me so badly. There was 3 girls in a row once that all liked me initially and we were fucking around and hanging out and things were going good. I very quickly started to become fond of them. One I even point blank asked to be my girlfriend. All of them I didn't try to go all the way to sex. In my mind it was a huge compliment to them. I ACTUALLY like them, so wanted to save some things. Blah blah. It backfired so bad. Swore to myself I'd never make that mistake again.

One of them went from "really liking me" to out of the blue dropping me for a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD RUNAWAY FORM MILWAUKEE!

Everytime a girl has said "...but I'm not going to sleep with you" we've ended up having sex shortly after. I think it's more to give themselves an out in case they change their minds, or make it seem like they're less easy or not looking for sex and it "just happened".
