Could have been a mistake. I was given a number that didn't work once. I bumped into the girl a couple weeks later and she bugged me about why I hadn't called/texted so I told her the number was bad and to her great embarrassment she had drunkenly entered it into my phone wrong.

Or she's just not that into it. It could really be a million different things. She may have had reasons to not give her number to people or maybe wasn't looking for anything.

Regardless- good job on approaching! That can be scary as hell and I'm proud of you internet person. Chalk it up as a learning experience and go get the next one.

She may have messed up a digit or two in her number. But either way it doesn't matter because if she has your number and was into you, she'd get a hold of you.

Maybe you got the number wrong. If you get a number, dial her immediately. Then you are in her phone history. Women don't answer unknown numbers.

Met this cute redhead at a coffee shop a few weeks ago. I was smitten as she had one of my favorite girls name, was a musician, and had a cool accent. Also did I mention she was a redhead? We chatted for quite some time and so I decided to ask her out. I text her the next day and get the dreaded 'Who is this? I think you have the wrong number' text. It turns out we had some mutual friends on FB and there on her profile photo is a picture with her boyfriend. This all occurred at my regular coffeeshop so I still get to see her from time to time. Its pretty hilarious as she avoids me like the plague whenever she sees me. First time I've ever been given a fake number in all honesty. You'd think after the nice conversation we'd had she would have at least been comfortable enough to say ' Sorry, but I'm seeing someone'

Welcome to the mind of a woman :) Flakes happen, the mistake was "talking all night" at a "bar" without escalation. She deemed you to be "too nice" to have anything to do with. You probably gave off nice guy signals too; WHICH CAN BE FIXED IF YOU DEDICATE YOURSELF TO THIS AND TRAIN.

I have trained and practiced for years now, but I still get non existing numbers, emails ([email protected] really? and she does it with a straight face). This is something invented by women to kindly reject men who often get aggressive when they are rejected and their egos hurt. Yes we men are such creepy creatures. Instead of outright saying "It was nice talking to you but I m not interested in seeing you again"; she either gives you a fake number, or say "how about I take YOUR number instead?" or simply not respond to calls. This prevents any momentary confrontation by a loser whose ego got hurt over being rejected. Yes there are such guys out there, there always have been.

Let's say you haven't attracted her at all, but asked for a number and she gave you a fake number. You immediately call her there and then. A guy answers, and you look at her and shake your head in disappointment, say that her behavior is unacceptable and she is not your type after all. Chances are, that moment of manliness may make her change her mind. Or not. You have lost nothing.

Assume a situation you asked for her number without attracting her. And she said "How about I take YOUR NUMBER?" Average frustrated champ jumps into this opportunity like Quasimodo goes "she gave me water she gave me water!!" You simply say. "Why?... " and not accept this unless she puts her number in your phone, and kisses your cheek to apologize for her behavior. If not; you haven't lost anything: most importantly not your self-respect, and not a lot of time waiting for a text from her. And if you saw her later and ask why she didn't call; she could probably say "Oh I have beeen busyyyyy": It's a funny thing. A woman is almost never busy when it's about a guy she is attracted to. She lies to her parents, her friends, her SIGNIFICANT OTHER: just to be with you. But if she is not attracted; she will be "busy" for months until she needs help moving or painting her walls.

Never accept second class treatment from women, or anyone. Call them out on it. They will thank you for your honesty and dignity. This is a VERY ATTRACTIVE trait to have. Always call people out on their unacceptable behavior. The waitress, the cashier, the colleague, ALL WOMEN, and even your boss (without being mean). Getting with self respect and no regret about the past is always better than the other, sniveling option unless you have a time machine.

Why are you talking to her so much? She's not your friend. You're not there to have your first date. You're there to talk, get a number, and if you can't feel a k-close or f-close, you frame them into a date and leave. That's it. You're trying to be her buddy and telling her your life story, fuck that man you'd might as well be damaged goods.

You are still at the beginning of this so expect a ton of fake numbers, unanswered calls and flakes. Go on with approaching.

The major mistake you do at this point is that you provide value and fun but you are not sexual with them. You are not looking to be friends with her, you are looking to have sex. Hug them, challenge them, lift them in the air, push/pull them, undress them with your eyes, go for the make out. Only exchange phone numbers after sex or if there is no other way to have sex with them the same night.
