Seriously? Almost 8 million people live on Long Island and there's nothing to do socially? No Fairs, Swap Meets, Concerts in the Park, or any other types of things where people gather? Quit making excuses and get out there.

What do you like to do? Pick something you enjoy doing that you have to leave your house to do.

I.e. i like to play tennis but didnt know any people staying on campus for the summer that play tennis. So for a week or two i went go to the courts and just played by myself (did some sprints, pushups, jumprope, practiced serves ect.) and it let me meet people who also play tennis.

I've been taken a learn to skate class for the past couple of months. There are 30+ girls in the class and me. Only guy. It's beyond easy to pick up a girl.

There are lots of activities that you should explore. You'll be surprised how easy it is to find people to be social with a learning a skill type class.

Dude I know LI is difficult, the area mixed with the women just makes things worse. I lived there for a bit. I'm assuming your parents are making a decent amount of money, and LI has a lot of resorts and clubs. Try tennis or swimming. You also have LA fitness next to you, that gym is always PACKED. There's basketball there, racquetball, swimming, and a lifting floor. If you really want to find something you will. Also you can create something todo. Remain positive.

If you're into it try Kickboxing beginner courses (more girls than you'd think) or other sports

Check activities campuses around you are doing. When I went to Adelphi they had stuff going on all the time during summer.

Does anyone have any advice on how to find local events, regardless of the area? I'm sure most towns have tons of stuff going on once you know where to look.

Set something up yourself. Maybe try meetup.com. I have seen meetups that have basically no purpose except to have a potluck dinners. That's probably not going to interest a younger crowd, so figure something out for yourself.

Join a Sports Club. There must be at least a few associations that offer them in Long Island.
