For different girls, do you guys do different first dates? Or do you have a sort of template you go by each time more or less?

IMO that is what routines are finding lines and tactics that work and then repeating them. Me personally I like to be spontaneous and don't like to do the same thing twice. I find I grow more as a person this way, and what happens once you get past those routines to someone you really like and want to keep around if you are doing the same things over and over? Be spontaneous find things you and the different girls enjoy together.

First date for me is almost always coffee, and depending on weather, a walk, preferably by the riverfront nearby. Casual and a good way to get to know each other.

I do first dates revolving around what I learn about her. She's a foodie? I check for food events, food trucks, hidden gems, etc. Does she like active stuff? I'll take her go karting. She's a hopeless romantic? I'll take her to an observatory to overlook LA. She's artistic? I'll take her to a grafitti wall. My point is, every girl is different so cater to what she likes. Shows you're listening, that you actually put thought into it, and an easier way to connect.

I do the same thing every time - take them to a quiet bar to drink/chat/flirt. If we're getting on well, I'll hop to another place or go for a walk. First date should be very simple. I remember reading an article about effective first dates on girlschase. He says you should adhere to the 5 Cs:

Conversation
Control
Covert

Short answer: Only if she is a clone of the last girl, being exactly the same and having the same interests.

Longer answer: Girls are not manufactured in a factory somewhere. They are individuals with differing interests and characteristics and it's not like discovering a way that works with one girl, means you have stumbled on THE WAY to all girls. You have to calibrate to each girl. Every time.

I have a variety of possible venues in a various neighborhoods...but if you look at it as a whole...I've brought a lot of women to the same places with a few exceptions that were specific to particular women. Hundreds got sangria dates, many got Tea dates or Eastern Market. Maybe a couple of dozen got taco dates. Only one got a book signing date (she chose it of 2 options I gave her) and only a few got museums, the zoo, farmer's market, or comedy.

I always use the same routine for a first date. Meet for aperitif, walk around getting to know each other, then end up going dancing or just eating and talking at a nice cafe. If I feel like a second date (more accurately, if she feels like a second date), I'll know enough about what she likes to do to plan a second date accordingly.
