I meet lots of women. And oftentimes when I speak with them I give off a friendly vibe. Sometimes women have met up with me thinking we were just "hanging out". In fact, in Aziz Ansari's book Modern Romance, one of the points he makes is that based on surveys he conducted, many women are unsure of whether they are going on a date or a friendly meeting. This bothers them.

Therefore I am always clear in my intentions. I compliment them physically which is something a friend would never do. I invite them for drinks, which has a date undertone. I don't beat around the bush, and I don't use the phrase "hang out". I use phrases like "I want to see you again" "Let's get a drink" "Let's get together again". It is phrases and actions like these which shift the conversation from friendly to strictly dating.

Finally, I would like to say that in order to be clear in my intentions, I always ask for the date. If they say yes then I go for the phone number. I only go for the Facebook if they are international. For some reason, in our society exchanging Facebooks is for friends and exchanging phone numbers is for romance.
