A lot of women want to see how you behave in a group setting. Going to a party where you know absolutely no one and hitting it off with people instantly is a pretty big achievement in social IQ. It's not for everyone.

What happens when you try to kiss them? You get rejected? I guess I can see how you might interpret it as friend zoning....like they aren't attracted, but maybe they want to use you as a jealousy trap for another guy. But then going to a party where you don't know any of the women directly, but you can honestly say "__ invited me" is a pretty good situation. If you go there and you get the sense that she is just using you for social proof, use her for social proof and see if you can hook up with another girl at the party.

It's good to do this early in the process when she hasn't formed an entrenched feeling about you. When I think of "friend zone" it is a more permanent concept. There is a chance that she just isn't attracted to you at first, but that can all change if she sees you making out with another girl at a party.

I don't think they suck at setting up dates because after all they always expect the guy to do it for them . I also don't think they are friendzoning you , you wouldn't invite a girl you didn't like to a party , would you ? Because it would be almost sure that she would at least try to make out with you. Although this has never happened to me before i believe that it's a matter of luck and time until you sleep with one of them :)

What age range are you in? In college this was pretty common for me. Parties and nights out are what's seen as the norm and usually make for good dates. Plus, she has the benefit of being around people that she knows to reduce the risk of meeting up solo with someone she recently met.

Parties seem more fun when more people are there.

You've already shown interest in her, so if she gets you to come to her party, she can get attention from you and look popular in front of her friends.

It's definitely a way to see who you are in a situation that is relatively low pressure for her and high pressure for you. If it's your thing go for it, but don't be afraid to straight up say that you would rather spend the first time meeting with her 1on1. If she's serious about it she will be ok with it.
