Too many siths on this thread, dealing in absolutes.

There are two possibilities to the "I got a boyfriend" line, and it all has to do with timing.

If stated pretty early, then they're dismissing you. No ifs and buts about it.

If stated well after rapport has been established, then it may be a shit test. Not everyone's morals are pure, so them stating this doesn't mean they wouldn't be willing to bite the apple. At that point, it's a matter of following your own moral compass rather than acting as hers. If that's territory you wouldn't venture into, then politely make your exit. If you have no qualms about it, do what you gotta do, I won't be your dad on that one.

I don't want to be rude, but I have a boyfriend!" packed her things and left. Ugh. That was a blow I couldn't forget for two days. I made the girl run away, how about that?

Saw her later at this "vegan restaurant" (they only have mystery soups, probably made by boiling everything they find at the grocery store fresh produce sale basket) and told my male friend the story, for laughs. I've read somewhere that almost 30% of children in the old times were not actually sired by their fathers, but by someone else that the mother picked as "more suitable for her genes". Meaning, she was attracted to someone else, but married for family-economic-religious reasons. And she made kids with the men she was attracted to on a gut level, not the 50 years old merchant her parents sold her off to.
