To avoid friendzone, you need to sexually escalate early on. From a cold approach you have approx 5 minutes from your open to escalate properly, if you don't, you basically are friendzoned. There are some rare cases if the girl keeps it open longer, but from a completely cold approach, if you just talk about neutral topics for 5 or more minutes, she's putting you down as a friend and not as a potential sexual partner.
