I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times before, but I'm curious if there is any way to get past the "let's just be friends" talk. This girl I've been seeing for a month gave it to me and I played it off nonchalant like "ok" and left it at that. She said she doesn't have feelings to date me anymore and that it wouldn't be fair to either of us to continue.

I really like her, and am considering what to do going forward: I've heard that pretty much 100% of the time, you should just cut contact to save yourself the heartache and move on.

Just kind of curious if staying friends with her, but being less available would be an effective way to handle the situation with the goal of continuing down the dating path? She usually initiates everything and I'm confident that she will continue to do so, I'm just torn between cutting contact and potentially making her miss me, and being her friend, working on myself, and demonstrating high value.

I anticipate an overwhelming "just cut contact not to make her miss you, but to genuinely move on" response, but I just want to know if there is any hope for this situation and hear if anybody has overcome it.

Please excuse my scarcity mindset 😂
