Wasn't it easy before the invention of smartphones? When I was young, there were people who I didn't know, then people who were just there and I knew them by seeing them, people I considered buddies and then there were friends. The last category were people I actually met in person, we got along and hung out. Simple thing. Nowadays, people consider strangers they have added on some virtual platform to be friends, strange times.

My point is: if you never meet someone, how can you be friends? At most you are something like buddies, a very unimportant type of buddies. Your reply you wanted to write sounds reasonable, explaining that stranger that it's ridiculous to call someone friend you never even meet.

From the fact that you asked here, I get that you still have hopes that she might change her mind, but you have to ask yourself if it's actually worth your time to pursue a girl that only wants you to be her pen pal. If you want to be painfully directt with her, tell her that: look girl, my time is worth a lot to me, and I do not spend it with something unimportant like texting with a stranger. If you want to meet up, tell me, otherwise don't bother me.
