This is a very common problem guys have. It's because of a few reasons:

You do not place girls that you're not interested in on a pedestal. I would wager that you do this with hotter girls.
You are outcome independment with girls you don't care about which coveys that you have options and thus, you are high value.

Or it could be that the girls you don't find attractive, are actually not all that attractive, as as such they chase after you

I pulled a 10 (8 months strong!) by simply zero-stating her. I was just interested in the experience of hanging out, and was not concerned at all with the outcome. I was so into the moment, I almost forgot to even get her number! How did I remember? The look on her face when she realized I was about to walk out of her life.

Two reasons: 1. You're not nervous when it comes to girls you're not attracted to; Not nervous = appear more confident. 2. Less attractive girls are less picky than more attractive girls.

I would add the fear of rejection. Being rejected by a girl you are indifferent to doesn't hurt as much as being rejected by a girl that you like, even worse if you fell in love with her (oneitis, friendzone and all these nightmares). You have to be indifferent to all of them, as the good posts say, by increasing your value and, most than anything, developing confidence.

THIS. You are so right. Much easier to approach and be sarcastic, ironic, give them the sense that you don’t care. Whilst hot girls are much more challenging to talk to and you end up looking like a boring guy
