It just takes practice.

First, you don't filter your targets. It is just so easy to tell which girl will be receptive which not before even talking with her. Pay strong attention to her walking speed and clothes and environment. Based on this you can deduce with good accuracy of what kind of person she is and what she is doing at this moment. It takes 1000s of approaches to develop this skill, tho.

Secondly, you either giving too much energy or not enough when opening. Remember your energy level should be 10% higher than hers. That's all. If it is lower, then she will ignore you. If it is higher then you will scare her.

Third, most likely you are not stopping them properly. The actual stop is an art on its own, lol. Don't do common mistake such as opening from the side. You need to let her pass, and then run and stop in front of her. So that you would block her path. The distance is important, don't stop too close and don't stop too far. Also take in consideration her walking speed and if she is on the phone, or has earphones, those details matter. Again, practice.

Don't deliver you opener straight away. Warm them up with "Hi, do you speak english?". Or something similar. You need to have their full attention before delivering opener.

Just practice. And you will see that you can become so good, that other bystanders won't even notice that you actually stopped someone. If you can make your interaction with her to look like two friends talking from the third party point of view. You will know you are good at this.

Stopping a girl on the street randomly to hit on them just sounds horrible. The situation has to to already exist for an interaction to happen, forcing it will just push them away.

See now, here's my thing. Does the direct approach put them on a pedestal? You've already given them your attention and validation already, which is like currency for women. I've had success with cold approaching. Lot of fun and awkward stories over the years. Got to kiss a bride to be and her married mother within minutes of each other off a cold approach. But that being said, it's a lot to go through. there's also situations where the girl chooses me first. and looking back, it's always an easier process. when I say chooses, they may look at me a certain way, or even do something that indicates, so not exactly a cold approach.

I understand the notion of going after what you want in life, but I don't know if a broad is going to be a high priority for me like when I was younger. and they shouldn't be. I think it's a different perspective when they choose you, because you come in with a little leverage, while the cold approach you come in wanting her so she has all the leverage.
