I think you need to test the waters when it starts to get serious with a bit of ambiguity in this matter.

How will they react to the ambiguity, in a caring manner? Joking manner? Dismissive manner?

Women test their men, and men can test their women.

An example is a sprained ankle. If she cares, she will want to help with its recovery first. This kinda thing.

Women always complain about men being emotionally unavailable. But that only applies to the bad boys they are trying to lock down, then they ask where are all the good men. I can pretty much guarantee you are in for a bad time if you show emotional weakness or vulnerability to a woman.

Step 1: Don’t be vulnerable in the first place.

Step 2: Fix whatever dumb thing you’re “vulnerable” about.

Step 3: Never communicate what makes you vulnerable to anyone ever. If you have to share, leave it on your tomb stone.

Codicil: the only time to be vulnerable is if you’re shit testing someone and give them a fake vulnerability simply to see how they react and what they do. It’s a trust exercise for intelligence gathering.

The first thing you need to look at is your desire for a relationship. Do you want a relationship because it's expected and you are somehow not a successful man without one? Do you want to have a relationship in order to obtain a reliable source of orgasms? Is there a specific emotional need you need a relationship to fill?

Once you know what you want out of a relationship, it will become much easier to find, because you can exit relationships that don't meet your needs.

The thing is women are really not wired to deal with the depth of emotions and vulnerability men show even though they swear they do. For the ones that really care there’s a limit to what they can handle, for the ones that don’t it’s even worse. I’d say you’d gauge how much your potential partner can deal with your vulnerability and if she is able to handle it without making it feel like a burden then you’ve got a good one. Just one of the things we men face but don’t really talk about.
