it seems a bit of a stretch to go from silly things like tattoo talk to switching careers, my guesstimate is that she's into you and wanted an excuse to talk to you some more.

i have a hypothesis that in chick logic, what she really wanted to do was flatter you and get you to feel like a big man by talking about the ins and outs of the IT world, teaching her tips and tricks.

i see a few tactics coming along going forward, just about this IT talk:

disqualify her somehow in a teasing playful manner, like IT is for dorky guys who are into comic books and anime and LOTR, girls are not welcome in the club etc
a bit sneaky: be very supportive about her career switch, tell her you totally see her in IT, she's smart, she's driven, she has work ethic etc - this way you position yourself in a brotherly / supportive bff role, then when she is disappointed because attraction is lowering, go into the teasing and polarisation guy-girl, either going back to tactic nr 1 or developing story like is she ready to make more money than you, support the household, who stays with the kids, hire a nanny... i mean that is if you get accepted into the nerdy guys circle to begin with.
ask her about being a nurse and joke around saying you want to switch to nursing, ask her who will take care of who in the old age, is she qualified to administer insulin to your service dog for the blind, etc.
