It’s interesting this is being told to students, not just employees. I think we’ve seen a common inaccurate rhetoric that in student-professor relationships, the professor has all the power when in fact, I think the opposite is true. A professor can’t just leverage a grade. If a student complains to the dean’s office, the burden will fall on the professor to show why a student earned the grade they received. If a student alleges they were coerced into a relationship, the belief will generally be with the student. Students, especially female students wield a great deal of power during to this. This policy won’t stop female students from falsely accusing male professors, in fact this policy ups the ante. It will bring even more power to falsely accusing a professor, especially if the student is female and the professor, male.
I have a problem with institutions dictating whom employees and customers may and may not date.

When I was an undergraduate student I had a professor that very much favored the women. He married his graduate assistant. Thankfully I only had one class with him.

How is this a bad thing? professors/teachers shouldn’t be sleeping with students, even if the student is flirting that’s not a reason for a lecturer to allow it.

Don’t see how this is a men’s rights thing.

But what is flirting and who gets to say? Flirting is in the opinion of the person on the recieving end and it literally would turn a he said she said in midst situations

Two female professors at UC Irvine when I was there in 2004 dated and promoted their students. No one said a thing. It wasn't seen as abuse because women couldn't be absuers.

Students going out with prof. Is a thing and it’s been going on for a long time.

I myself went to movies and to the homes of some of my instructors, I’ve had more than one come on to me.

Big deal… so what.

That’s just normal human interaction.

In my case, nothing got out of hand and I didn’t get any classroom privileges out of it. The grad students graded my testing.

The problem was that the female classmates got into a huff about one of my instructors and issued complaints as a group to the dean that got her removed.

Which is think had a lot to do with their battling over sexual power and removing competition more than anything else.

These days prof’s. Have to protect themselves from accusations of sexual abuse due to the projection of the assumed “power imbalance”.
