No it’s not a confidence issue, it’s a practice issue. Confidence will follow after that.

Shit tests, witty banters, push and pull, negging, flirts, are basically rooted in this specific skill.

”Practice makes perfect.” You don’t have a friend that you usually have witty banters with? Find one.

Most things look natural (apart from nature obviously) because people make it that way. Same like “you make it look so easy”, yeah after 1000 hours of practices and repetitions, it surely looks easy now.

Here’s an example:

A boring, mundane statement: “it’s so nice out here”

Usually people will just say “yea it is.” But if you have witty friends replies like “not as nice as your mom sucking my dick last night” will fly across the room. It’s probably too vulgar to some, but you got my idea.

Spontaneous replies are actually not spontan after all. Just because it takes half a second doesn’t mean there’s no process involved. It always takes practices to do it. Be expressive. Say what you have in mind. Just because it sounds peculiar or outside the norm doesn’t mean you can’t say it.

Another example: just the other day my wife gave me a backhanded compliment “look at you with your new shirt. You look so handsome …[pause] * she’s waiting to see me smile * … for once”

But both of us do this a lot. So I’m not surprised anymore. So I replied “for once? That’s not what she said to me last time.” And she just laughed and said “fuck you..”
