I can't remember not being cautious of men, but I started having grown men hit on me at 10 or 11 (boobs) and then got SAed at 12. I definitely became weary at that point.

Since I was a little girl I was taught to be weary of my surroundings and the people I’m in a private space with.

I was probably 12 the first time I was catcalled, but it was also the first time I spent time in a city, so it likely happens earlier for a lot of girls.

some women are, some aren't

depends on your childhood

if you've only ever had great experiences w men, you probably aren't cautious of them (until you have a bad experience, or many bad experiences). this is why predators prefer young and/or inexperienced prey.

or maybe older women become less cautious bc they are more confident in their experience and security (having their own money) and don't believe they will get hurt 🤷‍♀️

For me it was pretty young, maybe around 4-5 years old. My mother was afraid because of the child abductions she had heard about on the news and told me to be careful around strange men. I think most people probably get the “don’t help strange men find their lost dog” talk around that age.

Edit: the age of the men depended on my own age and our physical size difference/age difference. It’s not static.

I feel like sex is pretty low on my list of what makes me cautious of other people.

If a person is minding their own business and behaving normally I'm not going to see them as a potential threat. If a person is clearly disturbed or something I'm keeping away. Bitch could have a knife or something, you can't just assume a woman wouldn't harm you just because she's a woman.
