My mistake with male nurses

My brother is a nurse than the older women in his workplace routinely make inappropriate comments of sexual nature of students and young male personnel, presumably of him too when he's elsewhere. His coworkers and superior just ridiculed him when he pointed our the blatant sexual harassment.

I work in healthcare, and I pretty much receive inappropriate and sexist comments (including blatant sexual harassment) almost daily in every place I’ve worked. I’ve been sexually assaulted by multiple colleagues (my union and employer in public healthcare don’t punish women who sexually assault men).

You’re expected to do everything stressful, physically demanding, and mentally challenging, work overtime, take the hours nobody wants like holidays, etc., while hearing women complain about the gender pay-gap.

You’re expected to work much harder but it’s not appreciated, it’s just "your duty as a man".

I was sexually assaulted by a colleague who used a sharp work tool and despite the fact that another colleague who witness the agression and was disgusted enough to complain without me asking her to, no action was taken and the entire hospital framed it as "he can’t take a joke".

I’ve witness the same treatment on young boys (under 18) with no consequences and at the same time openly false accusations against male colleagues are taken at face value (I received false accusations too, including by a women who sexually harassed me but I was lucky to have female colleagues take my side each time).

A guy I used to work with was once told by a female manager to hang around nearby while she was firing someone, "just in case." As if it was automatically his job to put himself in danger of violence.

Yea, this gendered bias runs deep for men in largely female dominated work places. I worked in an office of mostly women for a few years. Genuinely had no real issues the entire time. Got along with everyone, no real dramas. It was a perfectly even keeled work environment (in my department at least). But I for sure was the gofer anytime anything remotely physical came up.

A box of old documents needed to be moved/taken down? They came to me. Tables and chairs needed to be set up for an event? I was volunteered to do most of the work despite what my normal workload was. They helped, but it was an unspoken assumption I was just the one to do the most physical stuff.

And at times I was the "safe" male in the space for them to vent to.

I studied nursing before changing majors. I'm sure male nurses do experience harassment.

Sure, but there's also being a part of a team and playing to your strengths. I appreciate where you're coming from though. Sounds like you have the makings of a sexual harassment lawsuit if you can demonstrate that you're being put at greater risk of harm because of your gender.
