So we're all aware of how women encounter sexual harassment in male dominated workplaces. I've wondered if ken in female dominated workplaces encounter similar treatment.
I've worked in low paying healthcare since I was 17. I've always been surrounded by women. I've encountered a "men are trash" and a "Your butt looks good" so I figured that male nurses must encounter the same problem. I think I read somewhere and maybe asked some male nurses what they didn't like about being treated as male nurses. They said "Everyone expects us to take the problematic combative patients. They just see us as people to load problems on to. I'm a nurse because I want to be as nurturing and as caring as any of the women here."
I had always taken pride in being seen as "the tall guy who can do physical things the rest can't" so I was blind to the desire of men to be nurturers first. If your workplace expects you to be unfairly burdened because you're a guy, then your workplace is unequal.
